I look at the pictures of Kepheras...

Anybody else reminded of Antz or perhaps even the Ant Bully?

Shiri, it's based on the general description and purpose of the Dramatics skill, and how everything else works in that skill set. Sober for instance doesn't make you really sober, just your speech. Think of it as illusion based on performance. There's probably disguises and costumes and whatnot.

There was some point brought up at the time that caused everyone to believe that a real change is what's going on, but I can't remember what it is, so I'll just point out that it costs 5 power, which no other skill in the skillset (as far as I am, anyway, I'm fabled-myth up to ventriloquism) does.

EDIT: And I have no idea what the Ant Bully is, but I quite like the Kephera pictures, they're some of that guy's better. Illithoids just look like weird mutant children to me.

Just one question.. since the proper denizen orgs are out now too for the kephera /ill-whatsit, will the 'mysterious strangers' to which I'm enemied be removed? Or could it at least get a lead mob so I can get unenemied?

I bugged that one earlier...it should just be consolidated with the illithoids.

As for the Illithoids, they're a more evil (okay, visibly evil) version of Greys, or Sectoids for those of you who DID play X-Com games. There's also an old artisanal of an ebonguard who, although supposed to be a human, looks JUST like an illithoid.

Now, analyzing the races.
Short version: cool races, but stats suck.

Longer version: of the time being, dexterity is not very important, and the races are rather dex-heavy (exception: female Kephera). That makes male Kephera rather crippled, since they hardly have anything else.
Illithoids aren't bad with their high CON scores... but I hardly see them killing anything. Non-psionic mages maybe? Naah...

Still, both races are stronger than Dwarves and Trill.

As for the Kephera natural armour question: two questions actually.
1. Can they wear great robes?
2. Does the natural armour grant wounds reduction? (it doesn't for other races, as far as I know)

If the answer for 1 & 2 is no, then they're screwed against any warrior.
1 yes, 2 no - UBER bashers. Like Horkval. Sheesh... please no.
1 no, 2 yes - balanced, in my opinion.
Both yes - OMG, nerf plx.

Well, maybe there is some bodymorphing going around, but it's not "real" so it wouldn't affect ones stats. The Kephera suffer from such huge dimorphism (like many other insects) that I can see it not changing the fundamentals. Any genderbent players would either look like a very weak girl or a massive male.

I'd concede to that as an explanation for why it is that way currently, but it's a bit sorry to have the only two things where gender matters fail to intersect.

&Cuber: currently they can wear greatrobes, but it's not clear as to whether that's the way it's supposed to be or otherwise.

Also, how do you expect them to be uber bashers when they have such terrible INT, average CON and lowish STR?

1. Females
2. Slightly above average, but with robes AND natural protection added together, they'll be quite tanky
3. Magic-based attacks

I suspect a basher Kephera (if a girl) to be better than a basher... well, anything. 14 INT is decent enough to pack a punch (that's 16 with the karma buff!), and robes + natural armour would make them as tanky as a Tae'dae, with lower CON but faster.

Of course, that's assuming the robes are supposed to work like that. And the male ones are still screwed, sorry.

My time as a Illithoid.

Day 1: So far I have lasted half a day, no overpowering urge for devouring souls.

Day 2: So far so good, I have started to see and hear people at the corner of my vision, this may or may not be from being an Illithiodian, or it may just be natural to Serenwilde, I shall investigate further.

Day 4: I tasted human flesh today, it was like chicken. Power to the Soulless!

Day 7: I devoured a soul today, it was a monk, it tasted like Chocolate.

Nothing can be as tanky as a Tae'dae.

I've always assumed the power involved in genderbending made it an actual, physical change. Otherwise, it makes no sense.

It's true gender that matters for Kephera, not whatever you pretend to be.

Let me put it this way, the skill is called -dramatics-, not transformation.

In order to genderbend, you have to enter performance mode.

You are not literally becoming a female, you're pretending to be one.

Unfortunately Illithoid is an RP class, I wanted to see if they could be of any use to a warrior, with this pyschic resistance and all that. well:

I wasted, credits on a dagger. Changed into Illithoid and things started looking nice, base hp was 5000 without surge. So I make sure to lich for all the str bonuses I can and it brings me up to.

This used to be 2000+ damage, my sword has elec and fire runes an Thoros is a mugwump. Now without puissance it was more like 800 damage. Still craptastic.

So, I think well hey something has to be good about this race. And it can't be dexterity, since dexterity means nothing here. So I ask Reiha to mindblast me:

And this is with sipping cuz it sipped quick! So I came to the conclusion lvl2 pyschic resistance doesn't mean much either, when in human form that is about how much damage she does to my ego. It may be a little more with health but not positive. But since telepaths are not trying to kill your health they are trying to half your ego. At 900 a blast seems to me like their isn't much resistance to their damage.

Anyways, in closing.... Unless str is raised up to that of an aslaran at least, do not pick this class unless you are going for the pacifist RP. Dexterity is nothing here, and since there is no assassin class, and if there was they would hit for 50 wound 50 damage with 14 str so they would be nothing to worry about. I like the look of the class but the stats and the skills do not add up for a decent class who can survive PvP (as a warrior at least)

@Corinthian, yea I hope we get free reincarnations so I can get some decent damage back.

But like I said. I like the class looks and feel, and they were doing something good, but the stats I think were made back when the stats where made for all classes, and this str is too weak. Half of the basin will be banned from playing this race and the ones who would like to play it will find that they will suck and only be able to do minor things.

For now I am sticking with it. so do not ask me to defend or raid I will just get you killed. But I would like to go see now how much ego I can stack through illdrain


On a sidenote mindsense, for lack of better words is basically, scan with eq time. If it was actually scent with eq time it would be so much better in general. Sensing to know where people are in your area makes more sense. I was hoping it would be like mindnet in Imperian, but hey we all had high hopes

Yea, I beg you do not switch Aiakon, not unless str is changed or something. I thought dex would allow me to hit for more devastating afflictions too.... (well I was wrong)

Mindblast is based on max ego. I don't see any code references to charisma in the telepathy code...

If you are level 50, you can only do the hive thing so often. If you make a hive then die or dissolve it then you will be too weak to do it again for some period of time. I forget the time interval, though.
