Mindblast is based on max ego. I don't see any code references to charisma in the telepathy code...

I could have sworn it was changed due to.. Athana, I believe? She had such insane ego as a faeling demigod with blessings that they nerfed it to be based on Charisma. I'm going to have to go search for it.

EDIT: I take it back, it just worked, woot!

If you are level 50, you can only do the hive thing so often. If you make a hive then die or dissolve it then you will be too weak to do it again for some period of time. I forget the time interval, though.

I never made one (or died) in the first place, though. Changelinged into the race, gave it a try, got that message.

I have the same thing, I suspect we have to wait the 'dead' cooldown after changeling or something.

Hmm. I was considering switching.

I guess I underestimated the importance of strength.

Strength is king.

I've been saying this for a while!

We really need a warrior option where Dex is King. The Undervault denizens and the Tosha monks need to teach the warrior guilds different forms of martial arts!

To give a better understanding of how id balance works, it is based on current ego *and* max ego. It's really percent of current ego into max ego: higher percent means lower balance. For illithoid, this creates two possibilities. 1) Having large max ego will make it take longer for you to fall into low percentage, so you should have overall better balance speeds than players with less max ego, even if their charisma is higher. 2) Illithoids keep their ego bonus if they don't consume the ego even after the max ego decays. So if they beef up and let it decay, they will temporarily have really fast id since they are over 100% ego capacity. This should allow them to have faster id than any other race for the first few attacks.
Revan2007-05-13 18:14:51
I still think the stats do not mirror the intent of the Illithoid race. Illithoids are primarily extremely intelligent psionic beings. Their low ego and int do not reflect this. They have little need for high con or dex since they have no reason to be fast or resilient. They are MIND creatures. Their stats should reflect this. fix the dex to 11 or 10, fix the con to the same. Int should be at least 16 and ego should be 14-15. THAT will reflect correct Illithoid stats especially for the way they are RPed as a psionic species.
Unknown2007-05-13 18:25:55
I wouldn't mind seeing their Charisma boosted juuust a bit. The Inner Worm does plenty to make up for the low charisma so long as things are based on ego and not Charisma. But the main reason I think it should be a bit higher is due to influence. It doesn't make sense to me that an incredibly adept psionic race--one that can read minds, sense minds, and, if they're psions, actually sway minds--isn't going to be able to influence worth a damn.

Maybe Illithoids could have their Influence balance work just like their Id balance? The explanation could simply be that they use their innate psionic abilities to make up for their lack of looks. Or maybe just make it an ability for Illithoids who take Psionics, sort of like a specialization?

I dunno. I just don't see how a Psionic creature can't influence. It perplexes me.

Edit: And Revan, I don't actually agree that they need higher charisma for ego purposes. With Inner Worm, they can get +5k ego at level 100. That's insane. And, with the tactic Roark explained, means their ego percentage can actually be something insane like 220% or something, which, not knowing how exactly the formula works, should still be a pretty badass boost in speed.

Male Kephera should have some advantage over females. Male stats are just plain terrible, all my stats but dex would go down if I changed tongue.gif

But don't Guardians only really rely on their tankiness? If Kephera natural armor works against wounds, aaand their dex helps you parry and stance a bit better.. wouldn't it still pretty much cover your needs?

Maybe it was the other way around? Used to be based on Charisma and nerfed it to be based on max and current ego?
Revan2007-05-13 18:34:28
Yea, I'm willing to back off the cha due to their kick ass ego boosting ability. However the int needs buffed 1 or 2 points. And just so warriors will quit whining, buff the str some too. In all reality, right now Illithoid is a sad, pointless race to place aside from RP purposes. Warriors cannot do anything nor can mages really, unless you wanna bash 24/7 as a telekinetic.

Kephera females are... insane =/

To add to this.. actually, raising their base charisma while keeping the illdrain bonus the same would actually make them slower in terms of psionics, because if their base went up, then the precentage that was raised by illdrain would go down. So low Charisma is actually a benefit if you're willing to wait hours and hours just to have a super-high ego precentage for the ability to slam people with Id balance.

KEPHERA STATISTICS (MALE):

I guess the worst thing would be the int hit. Only way I'd ever consider it is if I was still allowed to wear the splendor, because thats just insane tongue.gif

Subj: Minor Race Updates

Two minor updates:
1) Kephara hive burnout is gone. It was just too confusing.
2) A dead illithoid player will not be seen as a soul roaming the lands.
Rather, you will see his inner worm. (Purely a cosmetic RP thing; it
acts just the same as a soul for any other dead player.)

Penned by My hand on the 20th of Dioni, in the year 176 CE.
Razenth2007-05-13 18:39:16
They can wear robes.
Unknown2007-05-13 18:42:33
I wonder.. can Illithoid become liches if they can't become a soul? And are they going to have their own Vitae message? Or maybe they could have some sort of innate vitae ability that works identically and costs 10 power, and are unable to use vitae itself?
