The races are cool, and seem pretty fun, but I'd ditch the "only at night" part of the illithoid underground regen.

I don't see why, though. Unless you plan on releasing a thief-type class very shortly, then Illithoids are not a viable race for any class. Illithoids shouldn't be scrapped to the side... they're new and it would be awesome to play one... they just need to be viable. They lack in all areas for every class except with con. That's their only good stat. Dex is useless and everything else.... is so so so subpar The only other redeeming quality is Illdrain, which does kick alot of ass. Otherwise, the race is not an option statistically for combat of any kind (unless you enjoy 600dmg swings and 500dmg staffcasts)

Actually after testing the Inner worm for a bit, it isn't really all that cracked up to be, you'd need to waste quite a bit of time actually bashing up mobs to get to the maximum available ego, which is quite high. If you can actually get the Inner Worm fully maxed, they don't make that bad bards, they would have a high ego base for songs, high dex, and high con, the only lacking point would be their intelligence, but that doesn't actually affect that many things.

Eh, Denust gets a 540dmg staffcast with 10 int vs. Forren (And his level 2 asphyxiation resist ), so I think it would be higher for 13 int, yeah?

Do inner worm benefits disappear when you log off? Do they continue to decay while you're logged off?

It does go away when you log off, so I would assume it would go away when you die. I tested illdrain on an unlinked goat and krokani, and they gave me about 60 extra ego each, so to get to my max at level 78, it would have taken me 65 of them. I haven't been able to test anything stronger for the lack of the corpses, nor have I tested players.

Right now, I haven't been able to test out the regen in underground yet due to wildnodes but I am very happy for the free reincarnation.

Now I have tested a warrior illithoid, and with them I have taken a very severe loss on how much damage I output. But this is not going to deter me. I just was not aware how much more 2 str pts could actually mean. As a human I was at 16 str and as a illithoid I am at 14 str (at night) 13 during the day.

Now the illdrain is neat, I boosted my ego to over 7000 with this. And I am not positive yet but I have noticed when bashing on astral I seem to be a little better off than I was as a human. I mostly only need to sip, now of course there are times I sip and eat berries. But I do not have to escape as often. But of course with the lack of strength it is taking longer to kill mobs now. But that seems to be the workout for being a little buffer.

As far as pyschic resistance, does this cover ego attacks too? I noticed some resistance to the mindburst attack on health but not much on ego ( I was still being damaged for 900 ego, like before I was a illithoid).

Now Thoros also hit me with some magic attacks (think it was just cosmic fire). With the lvl2 magic weakness Cosmic Fire hit me for 900-1000 damage, which is kinda strong but hey I have a level 2 weakness to it, so it is supposed to be.


Now I will continue to bash some more and also will try out the underground regen. But for now;

Illithoids seem geared well for a Telekinetic Mage. This will give them a great way to bash with Forcefield.

Illithoid Warriors seem to need a slight tweak to Strength, maybe dropping a point here and there to get at least 13-14 strength. Granted this race may not be intended for Warriors, but it seems the whole basin denounces them and Magnagora is the only place who will allow them. I think I am one of the only ones brave enough to make an Illithoid Warrior too.

I really like the way they look. I like the inner worm and the way they feed through illdrain. I need to do some more testing at my max ego while fighting with a telepath. I need to do some more fighting underground, and see how nice the regen is. All in all I like this race, just not the fact that I lost 1000 damage per attack with my sword that has a lvl3 stat rune, 2 elemental runes and 2 bleeding runes. This will be a good time for an interim of solely bashing for me while we see what becomes of this new and exciting race.

I think Glom accepts Illithoids. The only reason you kept seeing Dsiri (spelling?) on deathsense is because Ashteru and a couple of other people were "experimenting" with him.

Okay, back on topic kinda:

I remember earlier today when I was talking with Ashteru, Dsiri, and Rutharr (cutting in from time to time, more like it. Did I miss Ashteru's wedding? I was stressing to make him a wedding coat, even though I didn't really have to! I need to advertise Latonai's 50% Capable Tailoring! ) I think I brought up something about Illithoid and uniformity of race. So one of those three said that Illith was a Soulless Goddess and therefore, it wouldn't necessarily have been achieved. Bringing up the fact that Bollikin didn't achieve it either would have been weakening to my argument, so I didn't bring it up. But do Illithoid have uniformity of race? Are they all psionically inclined, inner worm carrying creatures? Or are some not?

I think right now we have uniformity of illithoids because we really don't have too much to compare them to, and since it's a new race, people aren't trying new things.

I doubt we'll have the complete randomness of...say...viscanti, but in time, people will develop their own little traits.

I personally want an inner worm with an Alien-type mouth, but that's just me.
