I made a new topic not to derail this thread.
Ropon2007-05-14 16:40:45
It seems to me some guilds within Glomdoring are clashing on which, if any, new race to allow. It'll be interesting to see what is decided.
Unknown2007-05-14 18:28:40
I don't know where all the "Glom is going to ban Illithoid" stuff is coming from. Really, the hate is directed at Kephera for obvious reasons. Thus far, I've seen Illthoid being accepted in the Ebonguard and Blacktalon guilds without being told to reincarnate (to the best of my knowledge, Shadowdancers don't hear those aethers. ) But as I'm not on all the time, I'm guessing stuff could be happening that a CR1 would never know about, and that's in keeping with Night Glomdoring's RP (demanding that your superiors work in the shadows, etc., etc.)
They do kinda freak Latonai out ICly, that's mostly because of the ILLDRAIN thing. Freaky to watch, but definitely something in tune with Magnagora's RP. (Quick, someone make a Illithoid Nihilist who DeepPacts with Gorgulu! It would SO TOTALLY FIT!)

My iilithoid warrior has 15 intelligence so not bad there....
15 int for a mage is pretty bad, Ild. And note that that's only for liches at night! Night time is shorter than day... and at day we have an amazing 12 int. So we're pretty much limited to night time fighting if we want to do damage that -might- hurt people... and even then it's doubtful. Also, you're an Archlich, so you don't get daytime penalties like the mages do. Bashing's incredibly horribly slow. Illithoid need at least an extra point of intelligence... but preferably 2. Overall, Illithoids... PSIONIC beings... make for piss poor psionists =/
Illdrain's amazing, by the way

Ild the Illithoid is a Tracker, not an Archlich. He gets no cool bonus for being a Illithoid. He actually got enemied to an Order by the God for no reason today. Just logged in and boom enemied. Next time said God should ask Ildaudid the Illithoid a simple question before enemying him.
And viscanti's are horrible too. Only benifit is that you get city spec's if you are a mage. But other than that they suck. Illithoids are workable, ya may wanna tweak int some, but they have blessings for intelligence. They have no karma blessings for strength.
Verithrax2007-05-14 22:10:26
I think Illithoids would be very viable as warriors with just a level one balance bonus.
Is there any compelling reason for the stat freeze? It seems like a bad idea putting a new race out there and saying, "We're not going to adjust the stats." Even after the races have been thoroughly playtested and determined to be useless?

Acrune2007-05-14 22:17:45
I think its reasonable that the stats wouldn't change immediately, to see how they play out. Or, if there really is a dex-using class on its way, I can see why they wouldn't want the stats to change, only to be changed back later.

Oh.. they are by no means useless. They're just better suited to certain archetypes.
Verithrax2007-05-14 22:34:51
Which archetype, if any, are male Kephera suited for?

They make very good bashing warriors I think, especially if you get a group together to go hunting with eacother.
Verithrax2007-05-14 22:58:21
Not really. With their subpar strength they don't cause much damage, and I don't think they're any tankier than regular warriors with field plate...

Str isn't sooo important for bashing.
Edit: At least not in my experience.
Verithrax2007-05-14 23:30:08
Then again anyone can bash; balance is really more a PvP matter.

You were disagreeing with Daganev. And he was explicitly talking about bashing.

My experience is exactly the opposite-- str and speed are the primary hunting things.
Unknown2007-05-15 00:00:33
STR is important for bashing. Extremely. What you perhaps meant, Aiakon, was weapon damage.

DISCLAIMER: The following is the player of Fain's opinion, and nothing resembles an agreed upon administrative "legislation". This is also assuming that the reason Glom doesn't like Illithoids is because Viravain doesn't like them. If I am wrong, this opinion does not apply.
I'm not quite sure why Glomdoring won't accept Illithoids? As far as I know, Viravain has made it expressly clear that she ONLY cares about Illithoids in her order, but the commune can do as it pleases.
Aren't we trying to avoid the actions of the past? If so, buck up and make some of your own decisions, Glomdoring! Viravain has been good, of late, as far as I can tell, about understanding the fact that we, patrons, are only to act as advisors. Our word is NOT law. Our word is ADVICE.

I'm not so sure they're accepting Kephera, seeing as the Kephera were the ones to decimate their forest, so it seems to me that they'll be refusing both of the new races. Am I wrong?
Yes, Fain, you are wrong, unless I've missed hugely immense discussions and decisions. Shayle, Arel, and maybe Xenthos (can't remember, things have been busy lately) have already said they don't want to ban Illithoids. Other members of the Court, most notable Veyda and Morshoth, have also expressed this sentiment.
Revan2007-05-15 00:25:12
Illithoids are hardly suited to ANY archetype bar -only- Telekinetics... and that's just for bashing purposes. I don't think it's right to make a race not suited to the 10+ different archetypes we have. Illithoids have been playtested and I think it's safe to say that the stats need changing.
Verithrax2007-05-15 00:53:23
Even if a class that makes Illithoids amazing is in the works, there's no real point to make a race that'll only get played in one or two classes. Illithoids should be viable for AT LEAST one of bards or warriors.
Revan2007-05-15 01:26:59
Nah, mages, Verithrax. They're made to be mages
