Why do splendor robes decay and full plate not?
Could we have splendor robes not decay for this reason: If you are going for high stats, it is normally going to cost you more then all metal fullplate designs will, because even with shears, you have to replace most of the comms, then pay an enchanter...

I'm rather sure full plate decays, its just slower. And robes can be mended, the plate can't be.

Fullplate doesn't decay.
Or if it does, it doesn't say so when you probe it.

Interesting I've never picked that up before. Well, if you want to make splendor non-decay, I certainly wouldn't complain

Do splendor robes cost twice as much as great robes?
Verithrax2007-05-14 19:25:58
Roughly; can be more.
Problem with splendour and robes is that they can be made either of cloth, silk, or leather and silk is vastly more expensive.

Commodities: silk 95 beryl 10 gold 2
Commodities: silk 80 cloth 30 diamond 5 silver 10
Commodities: cloth 90 gold 30 opal 30
Commodities: cloth 90 silver 40 ruby 5
Commodities: silk 100 silver 30 opal 20
Commodities: silk 50 cloth 60 pearl 10 onyx 10 silver 10 gold 10
Those are for splendor.
Great robes cost as little as 90 cloth, up to maybe silk 50 cloth 20 gold 10 diamond 5 amethyst 5 ruby 5, or here's one thats 90 silk. (Dont have time to figure out good prices for each set). So really, not really twice as much as plain robes, though the cheapest robes (90 cloth) are less then half the cost of the cheapest splendor (cloth 90 gold 30 opal 30). Enchantment costs are about the same.

Splendor robes cannot be unravelled or unmade if you dislike the stats on them, or if you grow to dislike the design.

The point was made twice and ignored... getting good stat robes can cost easily 10, to 12 times as much as the base cost of good fullplate (and will probably take about the same time) because you have to keep remaking the robes, and paying the damn enchanter... Most robe wearers I know who wear great robes, give five enchanted, take the best and sell the other four to stores or other people. Splendor users are simply screwed... we have one shot or no shot.
