Cross faction Divine patronage (with a small p) has been done. Lacostian was I believe patron of guilds in Serenwilde and Celest at the same time for at least a short while. I cannot recall clearly, because I have not played this game in nearly a year. As well several Gods have had cross faction Orders. As Estarra posted this did have the effect of moderately stifling conflict (i.e.; Celenwilde and the Ethereal Star Alliance). It did also create conflict but in a negative way. Instead of inter-faction conflict, it created intra-faction conflict. Not that Serenwilde ever needed a reason to fight amongst itself but Lacostian's guild patronage and Raezon's order caused a bit of a ruckus. It would take a versatile God concept to allow a Divine as a Consulate in two factions that would prevent inter-faction stagnation and intra-faction destabilization.
Back when I played regularly and actually gave a damn, my feeble brain percolated the idea of a God of the Small Things for Serenwilde and Glomdoring. Instead of being dogmatic, the God's creed would be scientifically philosophical. Edwin Way Teale is a naturalist who wrote a book called Near Horizons about the world of insects and the small creatures under foot. The denizens of the small world struggle to adapt and survive against each other and within their own ecological setting. I thought it would be an interesting concept that could appeal to both factions.
