We didn't entirely miss the message. We just acted somewhat more slowly. I have a post on the Glomdoring newsboards calling for the Kephera to burn, and telling everyone of Chlogothoggospecial's promise of aid for aid.

Since some of the stuff isn't supposed to be considered secret..
Monks -will- work on Dexterity (dealing deepwounds, amount of which comes with DEX). They'll have arm-arm-leg combos, and will wield a weapon in each/two hands.
Making it brief so that I don't get in trouble. -cough-

It seems rather silly to have the "monk committee" be ONLY in Serenwilde. If the profession is going to go to all the cities/communes eventually, shouldn't everyone get a say in it instead of only Serenwilde?
Hrm, that's not the way I read it as...QUOTE(Ytraelux @ May 15 2007, 02:06 PM) 408002
Eventually, all cities and communes will be offered a chance to build a monk's guild.
To me this says "eventually celest, then mag and glom will be asked for their input in designing how their monk guild works."
rather then:
"Eventually you'll be able to build a building for monks of your nation to live in"
I might be wrong, but that's my opinion of it.

Each org might get input about about their specialization..but Serenwilde are the ones who get to decide on stuff dealing with the primaries and secondaries. The specializations will simply expand on what the Serenwilde commitee puts through.
Verithrax2007-05-16 03:34:08
Because Serenwilde has a long history of being fair and balanced.

I trust our lovable admin know what they are doing and probably have some knowledge on the other IRE muds. We hopefully wont see insta's all over the place because of monks. I wont expect monks to take psionics, think about it.. that would make them mages who tend to use psionics as all their activate attacks, although you can use balance with channels.. but come on psionics attacks and a combo in one barage? no.
The attacks will be customizable, perhaps wound based? Pressure points? There are alot of options so I dont think we should feel limited. The admin dont fail us (although some of us are unhappy about the kephera/illithoid commune city siding) and with the recent events do you expect that they will?
And to comment on what Fain said awhile back.. talk to your envoys! And in some cases talk to a envoy. I might be trying to get a suggestion in if someone has an open slot for tracking again. But if something is wrong with a guild I will bring it up with that envoy and if they agree we will see about getting it done. Contact me IG for envoy things, and when you speak envoy you can be OOC generally, since our job really is OOC imo.

Monks are psionics Mal, they specialize in decent psionics though, which are alot better than the mage style of psionics, and I hope they don't get the same exact mage psionic skillset

Sorry to derail, but can we please have the Illithoid quest done by *someone* so we know what it does? Or is that impossible now?
It's almost impossible now, queens have been made unkillable, and when you can do the part of the quest to be able to attack them they are like a mini Marani, and then ya have Forrenwilde to fight at the same time.

Which is what really scares me. Number one Serenwilde have no love for the Illithoid so they will not take that race in account when they try to balance monks and give them skills. They will simply push for the best things a kephera can have. Secondly they have 5 combatants that know anything about balance, maybe 6, I am very nervous about all the Mazako's of Serenwilde being on a comittee to help a new archetype that we all get to play. It will take years of envoy slots to fix them if they get distorted by non combat knowledgeable people.
Now time to head to Serenwilde, I have to get in on this action, especially if I am to remain this race.

monks sound interesting. I may leave the ur'gaurd for the new guild.

First of all. To all those who are being vocal about bards, I think that there is no reason to drag down this thread for that. Create a new one, if people want to celebrate, let them! However... Along that line, please know that just because we've started working on monks does not mean we now turn our backs on bards. We've been working hard with the envoys to implement their tweaks. If you have any problems with the way bards are, I encourage you to bring it up with your envoy and urge them to submit changes to help them become better.
Second. To those who say they are "disappointed" with the new archetype because it doesn't "fit very well into the Lusternian ethos"... Have we ever disappointed you? I certainly hope not! Please rest assured. Estarra is VERY good at what she does. She is an incredible writer and she knows the world of Lusternia better than anyone. If Estarra were to say that tomorrow we'll have AK-47s and ICBMs, I'd have faith that she'd be able to pull it off. Not that I foresee AK-47s, of course, but that was an example in the extreme to show a point.
So, essentially, have open communication with your envoys and have faith us. You don't know what's in store yet.
To sum up:
Yay monks!

yeah well, thats good and all. but Im heavily disappointed to any event that isn't Gaudiguch, why are they being ignored? I find that when the question arises, they simply say we do not have enough players. I find that to be all lies, I find that if you bring out new organizations and events players tend to stay or continue staying.

Also.. those two skillsets could be part of one main fighting skillset... maybe add some other things like assassination with weapons as a secondary skillset and bare-handed skillset as a primary

Soraka and several of his alts have been shrubbed from what I've seen. I think he's got around 3 right now.
Ashteru2007-05-16 05:55:28
By the by, I heard people who helped raising the queen got + to stats. Do they keep them as long as the Queen is alive?
Callia2007-05-16 05:57:06
All Kephera got +1 to int, +1 to Dex, and +1 to Cha
Shiri2007-05-16 05:57:33
I think I got +1 STR too...
Hazar2007-05-16 06:08:06
...damn...
Ashteru2007-05-16 06:09:54
So, to even out the bonus, we need to kill what, six queens and the Queen of Queens, all of which can be made immortal, and all you have to do is kill one guy to stop us?
...
Oh well, good that I like Astral more.

Callia2007-05-16 06:11:51
We have to raise the Queen, get ALL of the other Queens to support her... we have to seal a seal... and so on and so forth. It aint easy at all. Monday Night they started, I went to sleep, woke up today, and there was still an hour and a half of work to be done when I was there.
It aint a simple happy go lucky quest. It should be damn hard to undo.

Shiri2007-05-16 06:13:02
I will remind you that I was up 14 hours doing this and we hadn't finished by the time I went to sleep, so yes, it should take more than minimal effort to counteract and reverse.
Ashteru2007-05-16 06:23:20
Okay, so, HOW exactly do you undo 5 queens and then the queen of queens, taking into account all you need to bring down the immortality?
I am not talking about damn hard to undo. I am talking about impossible.
