Oh and on my description, hell I haven't changed it since Viravain made it as a Viscanti hybrid..... I will work on it soon, but will have to keep the old descript. Just cuz Viri made it soooooo awesome.

Yeah it does seem absolutely bizarre.
And tentacles are still a resounding no. Humans don't have tentacles. No race has.
And the problem with humans is that of the over-mutated hybrid. "Well, my mum was a human and her mum was a kephera and her mum was an human and her mum was a merian, and my dad was a human but his mum was illithoid and her grandmother was aslaran, so that's why I have an inner worm, hair, fur, vestigial gills, and a glowing arse."

I wish we'd avoided all this hybrid crap simply by stating that humans always have human children, regardless of the other parent's race.

Let them experiment a little. This isn't some Aryan "THE TRUE ILLITHOID MUST HAVE X AND X AND BLONDE HAIR AND BLUE EYES" schtick, it's a game where people have some creative control over what their characters look like.
Obviously, anyone serious about being illithoid is going to have the larger portion of traits that scream "THIS PERSON IS AN ILLITHOID AND NOT A CABBAGE OR SOMETHING". This is good. There's no point in stifling creativity by insisting that all illithoids look like all other illithoids.
If this sort of thing keeps up, I may copy you and go look at every viscanti in Magnagora and start a topic of "ALL VISCANTIS SHOULD HAVE HORNS BUT NOT VERY BIG ONES UNLESS THEY ARE OLD AND POWERFUL AND MAYBE SOME WINGS BUT THEY CAN'T REALLY USE THEM TO FLY SO THEY SHOULD PROBABLY BE DROOPY AND SILLY LOOKING IF NOT VAGUELY THREATENING AND THEY SHOULD HAVE RED SKIN BUT NOT BLOOD RED MAYBE KIND OF A PURPLEY-RED BUT NOT TOO PURPLE BECAUSE THEN IT'S NOT REAL VISCANTI YOU JERKS STOP DILUTING THE MASTER RACE GRAARARGHARGHAGHAAHGAHGA I HATE YOU ALL". I'd be laughed at, but then again, I wouldn't be serious about it. You apparently are with this one.
If you see an illithoid that has fur or a tail or something similar, feel free to moan about it and make fun of them for it. Otherwise, let people be creative within reason.

You don't know that.
Er... "THE TRUE HUMAN MUST HAVE HAIR AND TWO EYES AND SKIN WITH SWEAT GLANDS!" Isn't the same as "THE TRUE HUMAN MUST HAVE BLOND HAIR AND BLUE EYES AND BE TALL!" There is a vast lot of variation available in each race. Illithoid can be short or tall; their skin has more possible colours than humans; they can have as many different body types as humans, but tending towards a more lithe frame, etc. We're talking here about people giving entirely unprecedented appendages to their characters. Illithoids are a species, much like humans are, and they all have the same basic features; character descriptions vary in detail. An illithoid with tentacles is no different from a human with a third eye.

Except Viscanti aren't a race but a big mishmash of races; it's been explicitly said that they're mutants with widely differing features. But if I made a trill with a catlike, furry tail, would you accept that? How about dracnari with feathers (They're evolving!)? What about an aslaran that emotes breathing fire every once in a while?
If you see an illithoid that has fur or a tail or something similar, feel free to moan about it and make fun of them for it. Otherwise, let people be creative within reason.
How is fur or a tail different from fleshy tendrils on one's head? We're talking totally extraneous appendages which simply appeared, out of nowhere, without precedent. What the hell are fleshy tendrils anyway? How is it any different from a beak, or a furry tail, or wings?

Humans are allowed multiple skin tones as well, as the help file says.
Additionally, the Taint is known to have mutagenic effects, with these effects increasing in potency in each successive Tainted generation, as well as the amount of time spent in tainted regions. The illithoids have been imprisoned in a tainted environment for the entirety of their admittingly short tenure. Who is to say that the illithoids seen in the Undervault are but the first generation, and the effects of the Taint/Wyrd/global warming have yet to be documented in this first generation?

Your examples are silly, and I would question them. I expect most everyone else to do the same. However, if you had aslaran and trill parentage documented in game, I wouldn't blink too much at a trill with eyes like a cat, for instance. A trill with fur or an aslaran with feathery wings is worth mocking. Minor cosmetic changes from heredity or the environment are not an issue. Massive changes that are clearly out of place are.QUOTE

Er, no? If that were true then everyone in Magnagora would be Viscanti, even descendants of humans... and that's not true. Humans have lived in Magnagora for about 300 years now, and we don't see them suddenly grow tentacles and wings, now do we? I suggest you read the stories. The Taint is mutagenic while possessed by Kethuru or deliberately used; it's most definitely not mutagenic in its present state.

I'm sorry, but tendrils for hair are not "minor." We're talking about entire different appendages here, seemingly with no purpose, that just popped out of nowhere, for no reason, and have no parallel in any other races. They're even more major than feathers or fur; is that okay? A furry dracnari?
Members of a bald race don't just "grow" hair. They get it by interbreeding with humans. And yes, it gets mighty silly when a character of a nonhuman race has features of another nonhuman race; how did that particular pairing happen, anyway? It's known that races other than humans can't breed with different species. If you think they could've gotten anything other than very minor details from their grandparents, think again. How much do you resemble your grandparents? As a matter of fact, many people in real life have grandparents of an entirely different (apparent) ethnic group as their own. If you're making a character of a particular race, commit to it; don't pick and choose bits and pieces from other races for your own amusement, or your character will look like a cadavre esquis - And please, please, don't make up entirely new organs because you think they'll make mudsex more fun.

Yes. If you're a Nihilist, then you may change your description to reflect what bringing up the various defences do to you; IE, wings, and I believe talons and scales (Not sure), just like Geomancers will have bad skin regardless of race and Aquamancers constantly drip (I'm serious here) if they're really attuned to the Water element, and Stag/Crow users have their descriptions automatically changed if they have Stagform/Crowform up. But those are specific things. "Lulz the taint exist so i has tentacles on my head" is not a good excuse.

I have an idea that will solve all of this.
How about you sit down and compile the list of acceptable features for every race in the game and then publish them, while going around making sure that everyone is going according to your whim, since you have the keenest grasp of the concept of what each race should look like, regardless of other issues or little details that people may or may not want to add? Be sure to be thorough and leave nothing out: in fact, why don't you go through each race and make a list of possible features that should NOT be.
Here's a starter list for illithoids:
QUOTE
Skin color other than a shade of blue/purple/grey.
Skin color of the above shades that is bright.
Any color vein other than purple.
Any vein that is a shade of purple that could not be worn at a usual funeral in good taste.
Hair.
Noses.
Lips.
Eyes other than red.
Excess fat unless they are a breeder, in which case, they should be mocked anyway because that obviously means that they have mudsex.
Non-sharp and pointy teeth.
Fur.
Wings.
Scales.
Gills.
Tendrils.
Tentacles.
Appendages other than arms, legs, hands, feet, and the inner worm.
The inner worm should probably not be seen.
The inner worm may not be a tentacle.
The inner worm may not be a tendril.
The inner worm may not have hair.
The inner worm may not have a nose.
The inner worm may not have lips.

The inner worm may not have appendages other than arms, legs, hands, feet.
The inner worm may not randomly burst into song and dance across tables in space diners.
The inner worm may not have an inner worm.
etc, etc...

And after you've spent two or three weeks doing this, you can come back here and make another whining post about how nobody is listening to you and that you should probably just stop bothering.
Alternatively, you could just stop bothering, grow an afro, start a painting show on PBS, and say "Hey, this is what illithoids generally look like, here is a good base to start from. Be creative and have fun!"

How about we use common sense and base our character descriptions on things that are logically justifiable and make sense? We're talking about TENTACLES ON PEOPLE'S HEADS here, not some minor abnormality. Tentacles don't just come out of nowhere; where the hell do you get them? "Oh, my mum screwed a cuttlefish?"
Also the "promiscuous interbreeding" excuse doesn't work for a feature that simply does not exist in the game world.

Arix had hair instead of feathers when he was a Trill, having just reincarnated from Elfen. It later changed to hairlike feathers when Viravain helped me with my description though
