Herb + Sip penalty = Aslaran fail..
100% personal opinion.. But Aslaran is about as bad as dwarves if you ask me.

Aslarans are actually pretty good at several different classes. The sip penalty is noticeable, but not really a huge problem. The herb penalty can be completely negated if you become an herbalist, otherwise it is still a pain, but it is not usually a determining factor in a fight. It's a worthwhile trade-off for good stats and faster balance.

The high INT/CHA may make Faeling monks possible, Saran, if Psychometabolism is scaled enough on it. If you can build them a good enough defense so they don't crumple like butterflies on the first few hits, they may be pretty good.

(Though, I'd laugh if I ever saw a midget with butterfly wings jumpkicking a person and making their leg snap. Or slicing open their chests. Hmm.)

heh well the monks probably have the intense focus and training to do so. I'm just wondering if the monks will have stat bonuses like weathering and strength in athletics, maybe psychometabolism will have a surge(?) like ability for ego (ooh would be nice with illithoid potential ego)

You win the internet.

Start talking in reverse order, do we?

Taurian monk = god? with good all around melee stats and little weakness also what happened to the days when not everyone had super above human speed?
Unknown2007-06-20 10:55:26
Taurian have only 12 dex. Krokani would work so much better.
Hazar2007-06-20 13:28:49
Damnit. I was trying to keep the krokani monk idea under wraps.

True but i like to pretend taurians have a future as an actual player race?

Convince fifty people to go taurian and stand in one room. The Stampede Massacres shall be relived.

Taurian make good warriors, the best race for that archetype if you ask me. Not my fault that so few people realise this. Hell, there's more furrikin/faeling/dwarf warriors (any of these three, not combined) than taurian.
Unknown2007-06-21 19:10:18
me and maybe camillie or some thing are the only active taurians in the game right now

People won't believe you until you prove them wrong...

Which you can't do.

Taurians are a good race for warriors, and occasionally more exotic builds, like guardians or druids.

However, they are not the best.

To weigh in on the high Dex low Str issue, what I remember from the Monk design thread was that monks will cause damage based on the amount of deep wounds. High Dex means more wounds, which means your damage builds up faster. I'm guessing high Str. would mean a little more damage to begin with, but that in the long run a higher Dex will outpace your damage.

Combined with faster balance, I'm going to guess that Faelings will make really nice monks (provided they gain some means of defence). Especially with psychometabalism.

Taurians, lobos, and similar low-int high-tankiness races can make excellent Celestines, depending on your play style.

But, if you're titan, or even just level 90ish, there's no reason not to just be human.
Sylphas2007-06-22 00:45:59
I hate the human bias. sad.gif
