Writing about existing denizens

I was doing some creative writing on the Shallamurine Cathedral when something struck me. Is it OK to make stuff about existing denizens in the game? I've gone around the place and collected information from room descs and by getting the denizens to talk by saying keywords in their presence. But other than that, for this piece I have to make a few assumptions to connect the snippets together and also throw in some new made-up material to make it more interesting. From an OOC viewpoint the Cathedral is filled with delicious things to write about, but from an IC view I almost feel like my character would be unauthentic or fraudulent. For instance, for one of the priestesses I want to write about her younger brother, but there is really no evidence that she even has siblings, so that would be a case where I'm making something up. Soo, I just wanted to get people's opinions about this before I continue further on the story and find myself having committed some kind of RP crime!

Submit it as literary instead of scholarly.

I mean, hey, it's creative writing anyways.

For reference: Check out my Bardic, Tales of the Gloriana. It's about Rowena / Brennan. Makes a *ton* of assumptions about them-- but really, in the end, it's just a literary story, not a scholarly work.

You should be fine!

Yeah I'll probably do that, and was planning to submit it to the bardic contests in the first place. I guess I was thinking that my character might 'offend' Marani or the priestesses in some way if what I wrote was inaccurate laugh.gif Yeah ... paranoia. Thanks =)

If you submit it as a scholarly and it gets entered into the World Library then it becomes canon. wink.gif

But if you write about a sibling and the thing has no sibling... it's going to be critiqued and not even make it through publication.

Literary's safer if you're making things up.
