Common "Height based on size" thingy

Tell me if this looks about right. I'm hoping to 1. Make somewhat accurate descriptions for myself as each race, and my manse dweller changeling as each race, and 2. Provide a general guide to height. Of course, you can deviate, because we don't want anything set in stone that's going to limit RP, but I swear, I saw a ten foot tall loboshigaru demon thing the other day. Holycrap.

Without further ado:

Seems pretty realistic. Although static heights is a no-no, this is an average though, right?

Pretty much. It doesn't account for girth though.

I remember searching the threads for a size chart once and finding a good one. I'll try and relocate it.
Viravain2007-05-24 03:13:23
Estarra's stated in the past that 1 point of size = 6 inches.

To be honest, I find "divide height statistic by two and call it feet" much more simple and appealing. dry.gif

Also, seems I've been ninja'd be Viravain.

When I get stung by a little half inch bee it puts me in the hospital for a three days. So yeah, if that can happen in the real world then Lusternia mechanics are certainly viable in that sense.

Ah-hah! Where's Ezyth when you need him? yum.gif

Although, allergies do suck.

That's six feet, not inches.

Silly titan, size six for least stun time and max tumble, anything below that is capped
Razenth2007-05-24 04:17:23
So three foot frog?
Damadreas2007-05-24 04:24:25
Good for a rough estimate but I don't think it really takes the characteristics of the various races into context. As some by their race descriptions are said to be willowy but tall in essence and others *ehum Tae'dae* Not quite so much tall as they are.. thick. I've always imagined them just slightly above human average in height really myself. And looking at Kephera I'd assume the females larger size isn't attributed to height but the form of their bodies.

Anyhow, that's all just spin anyone with a good sense of RP would realize those sort of things after a while I think and draw their own conclusions. Definitely a nice referrence. But with realism at hand consider the fact that 7' or taller humans aren't incredibly rare just not common means that most of these are truly mutable as the widely varied sizes is true to almost all forms of life. And then for humans in particular there is the old humans and the new who are said to be interbred with the other species of the Basin.. so it could be not unheard of to see a 8 foot tall 'human'.

Just noted that Trill are also supposedly quite tall but size 10. On account of their hollowed bones and delicate builds to enable flight I'd imagine.

Well, I went based off of that at the start, not knowing Estarra had said it, but then when I got to the nine foot tall igasho, and the two foot faeling, I wasn't entirely sure...

Why're those hard to believe? Seems right to me.

Seems right to me too.

We had a few people painstakingly make a huge chart way back when, based off of human, and percentages and what-not. The sizes came out similar to that for those two races anyway.

Edit:I come out with this going off of what Vira just said. (For some reason you had shadowlord faeling's size wrong, unless the website is the one that's wrong, you also didn't have them all alphabetical, which I didn't notice until I went through looking at them all myself.)
CODE
size       number of feet tall
4          2.0 Faeling
5          2.5 Shadowcaster Faeling
6          3.0 Shadowlord Faeling, Furrikin
7          3.5
8          4.0 Dwarf
9          4.5
10         5.0 Illithoid, Kephera Males, Trill
11         5.5 Elfen, High Elfen
12         6.0 Aslaran, Human, Lucidian, Merian, Imperial Merian, Mugwump
13         6.5 Elfen Lord, Kephera Females, Loboshigaru, Viscanti, Master Viscanti
14         7.0 Dracnari, Merian Lord
15         7.5 Orclach, Tae'dae, Taurian, Brood Viscanti
16         8.0 Krokani
17         8.5
18         9.0 Igasho

Conclusion: try not to step on the faelings, and watch out for the shaggy mountain beasts stepping on you.

Oh, and for the other ~92% of the world population who don't live in the USA. In metric:
CODE
size       number of meters tall
4          .609 Faeling
5          .762 Shadowcaster Faeling
6          .914 Shadowlord Faeling, Furrikin
7          1.06
8          1.21 Dwarf
9          1.37
10         1.52 Illithoid, Kephera Males, Trill
11         1.67 Elfen, High Elfen
12         1.82 Aslaran, Human, Lucidian, Merian, Imperial Merian, Mugwump
13         1.98 Elfen Lord, Kephera Females, Loboshigaru, Viscanti, Master Viscanti
14         2.13 Dracnari, Merian Lord
15         2.28 Orclach, Tae'dae, Taurian, Brood Viscanti
16         2.43 Krokani
17         2.59
18         2.77 Igasho

Trill are not 5.33 feet tall. It says right there in the racialdesc that they are quite tall, but of a very light build. Same with Elfen, AFAIK. The size and height don't always correspond directly.

Also, I'm not sure if all the ones you have as six feet are really six feet, assuming the humans in Lusternia are the same average height as humans Eye Arr Elle. 5.5-5.8 might be a more realistic average.
