See, what they should do is just leave all these op skills as-is but give illusionist bards an ability to blanket protect you from most of them.

It’ll be the sight version of sounds captivate, and voila, bards are the new mages, just stronger, and completely mobile.

It'll even be pretty, and Ialieistic, maybe a room effect feat that follows the bard around once activated.

A rainbow soars to the sky here, protecting you from harmful visions.

Or..

A rainbow nimbus sits atop 's head, protecting allies from harmful visions.

I don't think us Gloms are down with rainbows floating above our heads...
Furien2007-05-27 03:34:36
A charred rainbow weeping blood and thorns appears above Arel's head, protecting him from non-emo visions.

Ooooh... that maze power sounds way nifty!

The maze power sounds like pit in Achaea...man if it is like that...holy flying goats that's going to be nice for bards. Means watch out Lusternia!! *MUHAHAH* freaked.gif

Are you seriously suggesting that a trans arts skill that cost 8power to use is the answer?

I think lessening the power cost on it would be nice, since it for now is going to be the only answer for people who cannot dispell

The fact that you'd have to pay 285ish credits to get a skill (or two skills -- it can be cured with trueheal, but that is 10 power), just to cure something is ...stupid, to say in the least. I can't recall any other affliction that requires someone else's aid to cure. It should either fade with time or be cured with an herb.

Aside of that, now raiders can be 10x as annoying.

nothing says emo like blood and roses

I haven't been Mazed, but from watching a bunch, and Mazing a few people myself, it's pretty easy to just run out within seconds, and you end up in the same room. Unless pit has been changed, it's stronger (but harder to cast).

As for favours, I always assumed it was just a chance of failure based on relative skill levels, not a set in stone "he's higher, you can't dispell it." If it's not, that'd be one reasonable way to change it. Dispell has a long enough recovery time that missing one will hurt, and missing two or three in combat means you may as well not even bother trying because you wasted just about forever already.

Now that we have Commune illusionists, Is there really any reason to keep the restriction on Script only being used in urban environments? There isn't any real reason why we shouldn't be able to make the trees glow in pretty patterns as we do the walls.

Haha, I nearly thought you were serious for a moment then.

You can't dispel the illusions of someone that is a higher Illusions level than you.

One issue I see is with Favours that boost the effect of Illusions. If the enemy Illusionist is Trans, and so are you, but the enemy has a TF, you're probably screwed since favours boost skills above trans in some cases. (It's meant to help scales-with-skillrank attacks, etc.)

That should probably be looked at, maybe.

But I thought favours were meant to unbalance the game and turn their recipients into unstoppable juggernauts... otherwise, what's the point?

I'm actually kinda disappointed at the Trans Phantasms skill. I can't really see myself ever using it.

Urr.. phantoms on every enemy in your demesne... and you can't see yourself using it?

Darkmoon, treebane omen and others are more costly to cure, and phantasms do not require someone else is there to cure you. From what I have heard over and over, this game is more balanced when you are omnitrans. I do wish that critique would cost less power though. 4 power would be alot better.

I guess I should probably see if it goes through shield, but I somehow doubt it. And stalkers give me more to do while raiders are popping in and out. Phantoms are nice, but they're not that good. Unless I'm missing something. Is there something about phantoms I'm not seeing?
Forren2007-05-28 03:29:37
Critique is fine as is - I think everything will be squared away once people add Glamours into their systems, something I have yet to do with mine.

Phantasms is basically the same as old Illusions with a few other things mixed in, like the ability to mass-terrain, mass phantom, spy on things people say, and that weird sphere instakilling..thing... and no illusory manse sad.gif.

We need a way for anyone to dispell illusions - Maybe a scroll?

Every IRE game is pretty balanced when you're omni trans with arties.
