Every IRE game is pretty balanced when you're omni trans with arties.
In Achaea kai choke was still broken no matter what, as were occultists, disembowel damage, kai heal and numb, kai banish, hugalaz runeblades, puppetry, the list could go on and on.
All omnitransing and (most amounts of) arties did was make it a little harder to lame you, and a lot easier for you to lame others.

Ugly pear picture with teeth
It wasn't funny the first time. Well okay it was funny a little bit. I was all like *giggle* thats funny. I can imagine the pear laughing in a very deep voice and saying "What?" all sarcastic like as it watches a little pair of munchkins - Nevermind anyway this picture isny funny anymore!

I thought it was appropriate. It was pretty much my reaction upon reading that post.

He's always been a giant pear with teeth, but when he read that, he said "LOL WUT". That picture is an artist's depiction of the event.

I dunno what's more demented, the pear or that old Avatar Yrael used to have, the green walking thing. (I saw another version of that with a dancing banana).

Critique.
People with trans arts isn't "anyone". Do you really think a class with afflictions that you can only cure with someone else's help or by having a trans skill is balanced?
Richter2007-05-29 09:31:49
Critique is too expensive anyway.
Ixion2007-05-29 12:06:53
Power cost is utterly absurd. Critique yay no more afflictions.. oh wait they put it right back on me for 0p. Epic fail.
Verithrax2007-05-29 12:14:16
Yeaaaaaaaaaah, incurable afflictions are bad. All we really need are scrolls of dispel.

Reality is 6p. Phantoms is 2p.
Are you afraid of the 0p skills terrain and illusory wall?

Er, spending six power to cure an affliction that takes two power to cause isn't balanced. Sorry.

I mentioned that in reference to the comment that we'll just put it up for 0p. Some of our afflictions do cost power.
Reality and Critique costing relatively substantial amounts is balanced, assuming Glamours' Maelstrom has a similar cost. The afflictions really aren't hard to cure, and come slowly. You could always just leave the room if you didn't want to remove reality. Illusionists can already dispell it for 0p, which is annoying enough.
Verithrax2007-05-29 12:37:40
Critique still isn't balanced; again, a trans skill being the only way of curing your own afflictions is unbalanced regardless of how you look at it.
Kaervas2007-05-29 12:42:33
Critique should cost different amounts of power according to what's being dispelled.
Verithrax2007-05-29 12:43:57
Dispel should be enchant-able.

That would be interesting, I'd make a lot of money off of it...
I can see the problem with people having to use critique to cure illusion afflictions. For some people, if you get hit with reality (does anyone actually use reality anyway?) or phantom you are just out of luck and have to deal with the afflictions. Really I don't see any problem with this - it's like dark moon or something similar. I can only guess that people are having problems with the thought stealer and sight stealer. Sight stealer costs 1 power for each person you put it on, and is only usually useful in group raids. Thought stealer is free, but doesn't do anything other than allowing your enemy to hear what you say out loud. Either one can be quickly and easily dispelled by any illusionist with your group.
The only time I can imagine any real problem is if someone uses sight stealer in a 1-on-1 fight, then uses it to channel things like claws and whatever while the target cannot cure it. Even this shouldn't be anything huge, since you can't channel anything incredibly dangerous, but it does allow the illusionist to track you. The problem is that if you introduce a cure, the ability becomes absolutely useless.
Really, I don't think that cures are needed. Maybe they could be curable with one of the focuses or something to be more on par with other affliction abilities like dark moon, but really there's nothing dangerous and incurable there.
