Just announcing my return. Abethor may be gone, but there's a new kid in town. Now I wish that I hadn't given my aethership away..sad.gif Seems silly to ask, but I really would like it back. Please? smile.gif

Um.. if the aethership was Abethor's.. then the person you gave it to can't give it to your new character just because you're Abethor's player. Your alt could buy it for a reasonable sum, but trying to just have it given to you, or sold to you for a single gold or something, would be seriously breaking HELP SECONDS.

I was going to comment about that, but it might be a special case if he bought the ship with OOC credits -> gold. Sort of like clans, ya know?

No. Aetherships are IC objects, so it's still a major breach of HELP SECONDS if they transfer it because its his alt.
Abethor2007-06-03 19:13:42
Well, I didn't actually expect to get it back, seeing that the person I donated it to doesn't go on the forums (as far as I know). But it is nice to wish, seeing that I don't buy credits with OOC money and everything I've ever done is IC. And also even though my new character is related to my old character and it could be role-played to give it back to its rightful heir...

what's that supposed to mean? smile.gif
Unknown2007-06-03 19:23:10
Probably that it's both A: rather contrived, and B: still against HELP SECONDS.

Out of curiosity, how are your two characters related?
Abethor2007-06-03 19:35:43
Well, Abethor left to explore other lands, that was how I 'suicided' him, and in the product of his travels he met a young maiden who happened to give birth to this child without Abethor's knowing. He left and when the child was actually born, he went to retrace his father's footsteps to find him.
Pretty good, I think. smile.gif

QUOTE
15.3.1 SECOND CHARACTERS

Second characters (and beyond) in Lusternia are allowed, but a higher
standard for roleplaying will generally be imposed upon those who play
multiple characters. Furthermore, using one for the purpose of helping the
other is not allowed.

There is no limit to the number of characters you may create and play in
Lusternia as long as you observe these two rules:

1) only one character at a time in the realms (see HELP MULTIPLAYING)
2) no character may ever help any other character in ANY WAY.

Example: this means that you can't create a character, gather a bit of gold
and/or equipment, then drop it all, leave the realms, and bring in another
character to pick up the loot.

The usual punishment for this is quite severe - loss of one or both characters
through permanent shrubbing or erasure being quite common.

(See also HELP MULTIPLAYING and HELP CHARACTERSHARING)

I'd call being a familial relation and using that to get your ship back is in violation of the bolded clause, even if he isn't technically an alt, seeing as your character suicided.

Okay, as I said before, I never expected to actually get it back. But I can still roleplay however I wish and if that's how I'm role-playing than that's how it goes.
I'm very well aware of the seconds policy as well.
Anybody have comments on the rp?

Don't say we didn't warn you when you get shrubbed. happy.gif

Not very stable, due to the lack of mechanics-related parents.
Abethor2007-06-03 20:14:54
I'm not going to get it back. It's impossible because I'm not going to mention in IC, and since the person who I gave it to (for free mind you) doesn't read the forums.
Not stable? I think it's fairly stable. Or...since my char is a kephera, Abethor could have ventured there in his travels and got imprisoned or something...
Viravain2007-06-03 20:17:19
You cannot in any way get your aethership back from the person you gave it to. The ship is gone and having it returned to you is, as has been said, a violation of HELP SECONDS. I realize that you gave it away without profit to someone else and even if you paid to have it returned it's still the same as one character helping another character. Just don't risk your new character over IC property.
Abethor2007-06-03 20:19:06
So...even if I paid for it if the person was selling it to anybody in the entire Basin?
Then it really isn't my old character helping my new character...
Ayridion2007-06-03 20:50:55
Better safe than sorry. If you're buying one via the market.. Why not just buy a different or new one?
Unknown2007-06-03 20:54:27
The following exchange is perfectly valid:
(Market) Shipguy says, "Hey, I've got this ship that I don't want anymore. Selling it for lots of moneys!"
You tell Shipguy, "Lol hi, i has moneys can I buys it?"
Shipguy tells you, "Kk one sec lemem check the other bidders."

These exchanges, however, are not:
(Market) Shipguy says, "Hey, I've got this ship that I don't want anymore. Selling it for lots of moneys!"
You tell Shipguy, "Lol hi im abethor i caem back can I buy it?"
Shipguy tells you, "Kk, i'ma disregard the other buyers who are offering more money and sell it exclusively to you."
---
You tell Shipguy, "Lol hi im abethor i caem back and i want my ship but u cant just give it 2 me cuz taht would get me shrubbed for seconds abuse so can u say ur selling it and only sell it 2 me? biggrin.gif."
Shipguy tells you, "Kk one sec."

Is this clearer?
Abethor2007-06-03 22:43:29
Yes, I already understand the issue here. My point is that if I were to buy back my ship at a fair price when there were other competitors, and I never indicated that I was 'Abethor', then it is not under seconds and is a valid IC trade.
But I might as well purchase a new ship after a few months of Bardic.
