All I know is that when I originally did the painting there were typos along with 13 spheres. Then all of the sudden, the description was fixed as well as the painting I did. So I assumed it was a typo that was retroactively fixed. But then it changed again. Did you happen to see if the room had typos?

Nobody's confirmed or denied it being a bug or typo though. dunno.gif In game, all I got was "I don't know anything about that" from Charune, and Morgfyre said the same but in a "disinterested" tone. So I wasn't sure what to think.

ETA: Ninja'd by Elostian I guess. Somebody must've been screwed up in the CVS or Subversion repository or the world database or something. Oh well.

On a floating rock amidst the astral currents.

This barren spire of rock floats amidst the astral currents, which whip
violently around. The faint moaning of voices carry haunting on the chilling
winds, caressing the barren grey spire of rock and withering it slowly away.
Beyond, the emptiness of the astral plane extends in all directions as far as
the eye can see. Far above, thirteen large sphere float hang suspended, bumping
into one another erratically. There is an aetherways portal here.

I see typos! But... typing thirteen when you meant to type twelve?

*clings to hope*

Something tells me Morgfyre's gonna eat that sphere after this and then there won't be proof either way laugh.gif
Caffrey2007-06-10 17:55:06
Ha, well I'm going to camp up here, he will have to eat me first!

Edit: Wait just a second... I didn't mean that. ninja.gif

Damnit, will someone FIX that typo already?

Ah, but dear Elostian, there are so many typos, and so little time. We have to fix them in order, as you know, so we've only just gotten to one or two of them. Perhaps we'll get to the rest later... If there are any left.. I wonder if there are any left in that room description. Hmm.

Heh... ohhh how fiendish... That leaves us in exactly the same position as before the "fix". harhar1.gif

I was up on the rock early this morning and it still says thirteen spheres. Yes it could be Shallamar I suppose as last time I checked survey while doing the intro quest it said Astral. But I like believing there is another sphere somewhere, as Rika said, called Ophiucus. I was convinced of this during the big serpent event, because the other name for this zodiac sign is Serpentarius!

Anyway, this is my little obsession and I'm clinging to it! One day I'll be scouting the astral aetherspace and it will be there! I just have to BELIEVE! *closes his eyes, taps the heels of his ruby slippers together three times* "there's no place like Ophiucus, there's no place like Ophiucus.. there's no place like...

The fact that it's also called "Serpentarius" has nothing to do with it. They both mean the same thing: "Serpent-holder". It's just that Ophiucus is Greek and Serpentarius is Latin.

Now that we've got that done with, continue with the thread. ninja.gif

In regards to other "planets" and aetherspace, yes I think the Prime Material Plane has some sort of "outer space" independent of aetherspace. The way I've seen it is like this: there's the Prime Material Plane which has Lusternia the planet in it, and then different planets sitting in space like the actual planet Earth is in. Then there are the other planes beyond that with the Void beyond that, which is something of a planar outer space dealie. Aetherspace is the areas in between planes, it doesn't physically exist anywhere on the Prime Material Plane.

But wait, didn't it say in one of the History of the Elder Wars books that the Void is everything that hasn't been created? Something to the effect of saying that the Void far outweighs what has been created. That would sort of make an outer space on the Prime Material Plane illogical as it would be another place void of creation.

I blame Morgfyre for making confusing Cthulhu-esque comments about other worlds.
Caffrey2007-06-10 22:51:09
Sooo, I went to look at that model in Xion and now I'm even more confuselerated.

The planes are shown as moving around the basin, with the aetherbubbles inbetween and with astral surrounding everything. But no mention of planets. So where do the planets fit in? Do they circle outside of this system? If so do the other planets have their own planar systems as well?

*Why did all the gods flock to this world, the First World? Did the Soulless eat all the other ones? Did the gods forget the other one's whereabouts? Are the other worlds inhabited by grues? Do astrological planets = other worlds?
Caffrey2007-06-10 23:07:30
A planet full of Grues just waiting for the light from Father Sun to fade! ohmy.gif eek.gif

I don't want to be eaten by a Grue! crying.gif

Ah, but I think Father Sun is only connected to the First World, as we definitely aren't orbiting around him. He's chasing Mother Night the whole time, poor guy.

So back again springs the question of "Do planets = Worlds, or are "worlds" entirely different universes?"

Unknown2007-06-10 23:11:28
I think they orbit prime. Sun and Moon would be out as far as ethereal, Eroee and Sidiak as far as elemental, Tarox and Papaxi as far as cosmic, and Aapek near astral.
Arel2007-06-10 23:16:06
Lusternia is the First World, sorta like the playground of gods, and they made their stuff here (Xyl had his tower build on the top of a mountain full of powerful energy or whatever), and they were called back to it after the Elder Wars caused them to flee to the Void. The transcendental fulcrux is here on Lusternia, so they get called back here. Not sure if Estarra and Roark built the fulcrux or if the gods left it behind when they fled or what, though.

Can the distance between planes of existance be measured? I dont think comparing the location of planets to planes makes much sense..
Caffrey2007-06-10 23:32:08
Hmmm, see I'd always thought about planes as being in a different phase from prime, like a higher or lower vibrational energy, hence the different skill levels in planar needed to survive in and communicate with the different planes. Hence Kethuru being trapped beyond astral out of phase with the rest of Lusternia, he is in a phase with a higher vibrational energy than astral and the seals keep him that way.

Quick question, Can you teleport from water to earth or celestia to Nil?
Veonira2007-06-10 23:41:02
I would like the mystery of how/why Leela and Timmie switched during project cosmic hope to be solved.
Caffrey2007-06-10 23:47:39
Hmmm, well you can still have different locations within a different phase, but in the phase model, everything would be overlayed, the planes would all exist within the same 4 dimentional space-time area but be in different phases (so that you could have nil and earth occupying the exact same location, for instance) but the xion model throws some doubt on that. Also, in astrology planets can go retrograde, which would suggest a standard heliocentric model for the lusternian system?

That and why the clangoru are called 'dwarves' in the History of HCE long before humans showed up >.>
