Wish List for "Unknown" stuff

Back to Common Grounds.

Just as an aside:

Some things are simply unknowable and will never be known.
Some things may be known but may never be revealed.
Some things are presently unknown but may be known in the future.

Also, I will never directly answer any question regarding the nature of the cosmos, lost planes, unknown planes, life outside the Basin, nature of the gods, both Elder and Soulless, nature of planets, nature of Great Spirits, etc. (except possibly to clarify points that have already been released). Speculation, debate, hypothesis, and theorizing upon any of things is greatly encouraged, however. I think disputes over these matters is another dynamic aspect of roleplaying which is a good thing. You can always apply to be an ephemeral if you want to really see what lies behind the curtain!

Sorry to butt in! Carry on! pokerface.gif

So Hallen can't pester you for an interview to answer his questions about you? sad.gif
Unknown2007-06-12 22:31:34
I definitely agree that you shouldn't give direct answers to questions.

My only point in starting the thread was for the players to post what we'd like to see revealed or hinted upon in future plots, assuming those things are something you'd like to and plan to reveal.

I do love the twists you come up with--I don't think anybody saw the Illith and Illithoid twist until the book was released.

Well, there was that strange bug with people changeracing into Illithoids a year or so ago (which does tell you how long this has been in the works). There was a bit of speculation about it then, but it died down pretty quickly.

I'm not quite sure I follow this one. This leads me to believe that I should avoid speculation and conjecture because there is a right answer and it will effect how things in the game play out, contrary to whatever theories or ideas I decide to try and play out.

My general impression of you resembles your avatar more and more. tongue.gif

This really only operates on the basis of the idea that it's unacceptable for your character to ever be wrong. Now I don't know about you, but I've certainly come to my share of blatantly wrong conclusions throughout life, but that doesn't deter me from continuing to try and figure things out to the best of my ability. While I realize there are a lot of players who don't like for their characters to be seen as anything but stoic and infallible, I personally think this is ultimately a boring way to play due to how much it limits your options for participation and involvement in the game (namely to those scenarios where you know beforehand you are always correct).

Unless I've just made one of those aforementioned wrong conclusions, and have missed some key point of your post?

I don't think you're too far off. I'm not concerned about always being right about everything though. I'm more concerned about choosing a very few things that I'd want to be right about ending up being something I was way off about after spending a lot of time working with.

Oh and Ashteru, the avatar choice is deliberate like that. I thought it would be funny to poke some fun at myself for all the ranting I do. The picture I posted in the player pics thread also shows how my hair is already sort of Calvin-esque too!
Vionne2007-06-13 16:06:36
Some of the most fun I've had in Lusternia, and indeed the reason I play it instead of Imperian when the mood strikes, is because I get to have fun with my philosophy training and come up with theories based on information available at the time and be not only recognized for it, but rewarded.

One of these days I need to go over "Sentience, Humanity and Divinity" and see how well it holds up against the new race.

A few people did. But yes, by and large, it was out of left field.
Unknown2007-06-13 23:57:32
I had no clue about the bug that let people know about Ithilloids ahead of time.

But I'll bet nobody know that Illith used to be the "Big Bad" before Kethuru beat her.

And another thing, Estarra also loves how we screw up some interpretations.

While it's really up to Morgfyre to unfold who he is, I will say that he was never described as a serpent or snake. I think took literary license with that description. At most, there was a metaphor of some of his limbs being coiled and serpent-like, but sometimes you guys really take us by surprise with the sudden and completely off-base directions you go!

I know this is about a page late but one part of the histories say that Dracnoris was an Elder God.

QUOTE
But Dynara and the nameless son saved those life forms that became their favorites, and these became known as the Elder Gods, and they were many. Thus came to be the Dragon God Dracnoris, Clangorum of the Mountains, Elfenhoala the Fair, Aslarn the Quick, Meridian the Wise, Orlachmar the Strong, Trillilian of the Skies, Bollikin the Playful, and many others.

It suddenly occurred to me that the basin looks very much like a large volcano. A ring of mountains, where the centre has collapsed and formed a caldera. We know the area is still volcanically active from Mount Zoaka and various other lava pools dotted around. I therefore hypothesize that we are in fact on the site of a supervolcano, a fact which would also account for the fertile land within the basin.

Could we have assurances that Estarra will protect us from any future supervolcanic erruption? The effect of a volcanic winter on herb growth and prices would be devastating. Not to mention all the extra work for the Fates.

I shall just think of Dracnoris, Keph and...the other guy who's name has momentarily slipped my mind, as anomalies; in that they were created alongside the Soulless but were later counted amongst the Elders. Its not like we have to classify everything into categories. Oh, wait...

It could also be a crater. Like say, if Dracnoris attacked Kethuru, and Kethuru slammed him into the ground, and there was much fire. Dracnoris, Meteor God.

I've been thinking this for a long time but for whatever reason, I never connected Zoaka with the theory before. In any case I think the supervolcano theory is good.
Unknown2007-06-23 10:27:35
I have not been in all of the undervault so far, maybe half or so, but I havn't noticed any signs of magma or anything to suggest volcanic activity under ground. I have not been in the area that would be under zoaka though.
Rika2007-06-23 10:29:17
Isn't there frozen lava or something? I haven't really paid much attention to all the rooms.
