Hey, I'm not claiming we are a beacon of good immigration laws. But there's no tide of immigrants trying to- Oh wait, there is. Filthy Colombians and Venezuelans who are even worse off then the Mexicans, lined up at our borders like barbarians. Frankly we should start firing arrows at 'em.

Since the Brazilian was complaining about our draconian immigration laws, perhaps he'd be interested to know that his country turns away all low-skilled workers just like Mexico does, and only investors, high-skilled workers who already have a job, and fairly wealthy US and European retirees can move there.
Indeed, the US laws are incredibly draconian in comparison. They have to, like...speak English and not be a criminal.

Yes, but who would ever want to immigrate to Brazil? Go for the soccer matches and Mardi Gras, then just leave.
Verithrax2007-06-13 00:31:43
It's not called "mardi gras", it's not called soccer, and we have tides of Colombians, Peruvians, Venezuelans and Bolivians trying to get in, all of which are vastly worse off than Mexicans and don't speak Portuguese. I'm not, however, endorsing my current government or legislation.

Like I said, no reason to go to Brazil.

I like the way you think. We should start firing arrows at all of our destitute illegal immigrants!
Or just shoot them. We have more than you do. Do bullets cost more than arrows?
Razenth2007-06-13 00:51:17
Do they cost less than a hydrogen bomb?

Shame the native Americans weren't better at repelling immigrants

that's because of how good European Americans have gotten at repelling them.

Depends on calibre and type of arrow I think. Modern hunting arrows have aluminium shafts and steel "bodkin" tips; that's probably more expensive than 5.7 NATO rounds, but arrows can be re-used.

Why do you have to label everything? Huh? I bet you're a labelmonger.
LABELMONGER!

Ugh, if we just did away with sovereignty we wouldnt be having this problem.
countries these days, sheesh.

We totally should have taken the whole of Mexico after the Mexican-American War rather than that lame Mexican Cession.

I'd guess a modern arrow would cost a good deal more than bullets.

Something everyone can agree on! Blame it on the french!

Tangent:
I was Googling Polish immigration law to see if there was anything worth making fun of there. I never did find it, but after browsing over to the website for the US embassy to Poland, I learned a new benefit of Vista. Lots of things aren't Vista-compatible. Lots of things. Among these things are the stealth functions of the government's spyware.
