It's obvious I have not put Astrology to serious enough combat use to force people to actually incorporate Astrology curing into their systems ( which doesn't mean I'm not aware of _how_ to use it *shinkick Thoros*). I'm too busy struggling to stay on top of my guild work to go spread, erm, terror but Thoros is not, so I'll be eagerly waiting to see what he makes of Astrology and if he can come up with brilliant envoy changes for it.

PS. A vial of hot cocoa may persuade me to revoke my curses, Thoros.

Anywho....as to how astrology works...

First off, the nativity are the basic afflictions that I can be hit with from each of the rays, correct? And these rays will always hit with the same affliction when using those attacks against me. However, using the sign rays, there are a limited number of afflictions associated with each sign ray and can be used against all targets? I could be way off here, honestly the only experience I have with astrologers is with Nariah in groups fights....which usually ends up horribly for me. I remember one time she hit me with something like 5 afflictions at once that my system doesn't recognize. Suffice to say, I died shortly thereafter.

Secondly, what's Nico's nativity? Please?

Can't be arsed with logging in to get your nativity now, but there's no use triggering it off your nativity anyway. Nativity rays and zodiac rays have the same message. (Blah blah aapek flashes you) I have no idea what you're talking about with "all targets" though, all astrology is single-target.

For example, aapek does aeon, pox or anorexia depending on whether the sign at the time (or in the nativity) is cardinal, mutable or fixed. If Aapek is in the skull (cardinal) on the day then a skull ray will probably (there are other factors that don't matter to you) hit with aeon. But if it was in the crocodile (mutable) on your date of birth, then an aapek ray with the same message will do anorexia. That doesn't really mean anything to you, but at any given time an astrologer using aapek on you is probably using either aeon or anorexia so just sip quicksilver to find out. If it's sidiak it's stupidity, confusion or amnesia so try and eat pennyroyal, etc..

could always just move to plan B. In seren, we call it advancing in reverse.

Taking those two lines into account (if it really shows like that, I wouldn't know) should yield a decent anti-astrology system because even though the Aapek lashing down on you may mean any of the three afflictions, as Shiri said, be it from your nativity or current alignment of the planets, the first one will tell you what it is. Ie. in case of Volcano it's Aeon - look up Furien's list for detal-...

As to how that's possible, Nico, once every year, when Aapek transcends the Skull the others planets retrograde into the Skull, creating what I fondly call the 'lesser syzygy' (full one would be all planets in one sign). That means once every year, for a short while, I can cast like 5-3 cardinal planet based afflictions which usually include: Aeon, Stupidity, Sensitivity and Recklessness - for two power.
