It's working last I checked.
Morbo2011-11-18 05:36:16
I did it maybe a month ago, was working fine

Okay, Wydyr Glade Lover's quest. Do I need to influence Jaryn first to start? I really want to do this one, and no one seems to be willing to give any straight answers, or it's been too long for them to remember. And while at first I thought it was connected to the Seren epic, I've since been told it's not. So, what's the fuss about? Fae get protected/empowered, Orv gets to play match maker and feel all warm and fuzzy inside for the cause of true love. Win-win?

Edit: And yes, I know about it needing to be the full moon- having waited several hours and expecting to wait even more so for another shot to do so.
Razenth2011-11-23 04:25:18
It fills the Well. And that's important for a few other quests.
Kiradawea2011-11-23 12:07:51
I don't recall having to influence Jaryn. I think it begins by getting a sprig of the Nightshade plant, but it's been some time since I tried it.

You may encounter some Serens and Gloms (yes, working together, too) who might hinder you for doing the quest because you're from a city. We do not forgive, we do not forget...

Hint: During the Communes vs Cities War, the Communes were screwed over because some shady types made Commune alts, learned all the quests of the Commune side, then went back on their City main and proceeded to use aforementioned knowledge of quests to, well, screw over the Communes. So, Fae quests have generally been kept by both communes to themselves.

So, Seren would break a treaty, go to war with Hallifax and Orv lose her relationship with Hoaracle's Order just because she's a city dweller who wants to water a plant?

Help me understand why it is a Bad Thing, if a city dweller were to complete this quest? Will Faethorn suddenly give all their power and loyalty to Hallifax? Is it like the radio antenna quest thingy? Will Orv get a lifetime supply of honeycakes and be crowned queen of the Faelings, thus depriving the orgs of the ability to lead fae to their side? I really want to know though, since no one will explain the impact of it straight.
Kiradawea2011-11-23 18:01:17
A city-dweller got mention in the event post as more important to the completion of said quest than the forestals. How dare Faethorn be grateful when non-commune members help it.
Razenth2011-11-24 00:58:28
hai'Gloh.
Lilia2011-11-24 00:58:33
This is how I would explain it IC if I had a commune character who knew about the situation:

As someone from a city, you have no right to any information regarding fae. You don't get to help them, because it's not your place. You are not entitled to complete any quest you want just because it looks fun. The fact that you think it's just 'water a plant' shows that you really have no idea what the impact of the quest is. (See note below) Don't mess around with what you don't understand, yadda yadda.

No one's going to break a treaty over it, but you might get some dirty looks. Maybe you should ask people in your Order to help you, since presumably they like you and know that you're cool with nature or whatever.

Personal side note: I really hate quests that won't tell you any of the reasons behind the quest or what it will do until the end. I want to know why I should help you before I decide if I will, rather than taking you at your word that you're the 'good guy' in this situation.

Commune people aren't too keen on disseminating Fae quests because in the event of a Communes vs Cities scenario, they're what the Communes have to do. Like I said, it's happened before that the other side managed to find out every twist and turn of the Fae quests that made it virtually impossible for the Communes to find a way out. See Razenth's post.

See above. Personally, I don't care about mentions in event posts, but I do care about events. Every time the Communes have been brought to work together, it's usually about fae fae fae, so we keep those quests obscure to non-commune members In Case of Emergency.

Hai'Gloh is...? I haven't had the luxury of being around Lusternia for years. As it is, I'll re-plug my hope for more non org centric honours quests. I don't like endless pvp/aetherhunts, influencing's nice, but now and then I like exploring and questing and puzzling. I feel like I'm running out of places to go and quests to do that are not restricted by politics, bugginess and/or Orv's squishyness. It's like the game's shrinking. Surely, I can't be the only one who wouldn't mind shiny new quests?

Edit: sorry if I came across as snippy, bare with me for being a relative new kid on the block (ca. Institute opening), there's a whole list of quests that I know nothing about yet want to try, but I'm trying to learn! As for ICly not knowing the impact of things, it is a bit difficult if no one explains what that impact is and is tightlipped or enigmatic about it. Also to me the player: its glorified gardening and matchmaking insofar as much as what l've heard about doing the quest, to Orv: so much more than that of course.
Ixion2011-11-24 08:54:13
At this point there's not much reason to keep that info a secret outside of RP. Some city folk have done and know the quirks of all the fae/nature quests so that point is really voided.

XI/ hai'gloh can still be done, too.

Orventa, if you really want to do a quest enough, you'll find a way and no one will be able to stop you for forever.
Ixion2011-11-24 12:21:18
For the Queen Serelyn quest, what's supposed to happen after you give Merenir the certain items he needs while at the pavillion?

The quest broke at the very damn end- it'd be nice to know at least what's supposed to happen after that.
Talan2011-11-24 14:59:02
There's a horn at the entrance by the butler guy that you use to signal the start of the celebrations once everyone is in place. It's pretty snazzy, lots of scripted gala activity in all the various rooms.

Also, could you all just drop it with the XI/H'G stuff. That is a really sore subject with a lot of people. Just to respond to the "no reason not to disclose" remarks - if we lived in a perfect world where people would not take ooc information and use it to influence ic events, it would be fine to talk about the details of some quests as a mere matter of interest. Since this thread is specifically geared toward getting ooc information about ic quests... please be considerate enough to not push on sensitive issues. I don't think any org wants the details of how to :censor: them over noted in the public record.

use|touch|pull|push|blow|blow on|turn|etc horn didn't work, I tried everything I could think of with the horn :/

Mehhh
Iosai2011-11-24 19:40:31
Except picking it up, ey? ;)

Keyword "use" should work--if it didn't, one of the five parts hasn't been completed (or possibly reset). It's easy to say a quest is broken if it doesn't do what you want, but more often than not there's some factor that you missed!

One thing you should take some time off-line to do is grab all the events posts. The basics of the hai'Gloh and the commune-city wars can be found in a few events posts.

http://www.lusternia...rnia/Events/149
http://www.lusternia...rnia/Events/156
http://www.lusternia...rnia/Events/157

It won't tell you how to do the quests, but it helps give you some background--most new quests (those that were added after the opening of Lusternia) usually have some event behind them.

I will definitely give them a read! Thank you, very much for taking the time to find those posts to help me understand what it's all about.
