There is a device on the lower level where you clear out the gravediggers. It's a crystal puzzle, ask Norchatine about the crystals.

That means that the quest was done recently. You have to wait for it to wear off.

I successfully sailed to my first aether bubble, the facility. Is there anything to be done with the slugs here? I've tried giving them to gnomes but none of them seem interested.

Poke around in the center of the Facility. Kill slugs. Curse gnomes. Kill a billion more slugs. Curse gnomes. Kill gnomes.

Gnomicide.

While pleasing in the short term, killing those gnomes makes it even more annoying to complete that tedious quest.

Regarding the Moors quest, need we plough rooms marked as roads as well?

Are there any ways to obtain clues for Talthos besides commodity handins? That alone doesn't give enough clues to perfectly identify what goes where.

Nope. Talthos has never given me a full set of clues before; there's always an element of guessing.
