Warriors are expensive for a few reasons.
First, armour and weapons. Expect to spend over 100K on warrior only stuff. (helm, plate, weapons)
second, you need trans skills to bash well, not just to do pvp.
I would suggest you go wiccan, they have all the best buff opportunities to them.

Besides planar (for conglutination, which is for everyone) and athletics (mythical, for surge, perhaps), what other skills do you need to trans for warriors?
Sylphas2007-06-19 07:15:52
Doesn't Knighthood affect your accuracy, if nothing else?
Hazar2007-06-19 07:34:59
And generally speaking you'll want to get high up in your tertiary. Drawdown/nightkiss are important, as is Darkrebirth and Medicinebag.
Vaerhon2007-06-19 07:36:02
Trans knighthood, trans planar, and athletics to surge are the big ones.
Trans forging can be nice (fullplate!), or trans moon (drawdown!), and so on and so forth. But for your basic hunting warrior, those three plus the usual assortment of minor odds and ends (focus body, invoke circle, etc.)
ETA: @Sylphas I think I may have. Inept focus body won't do any good though, since the speed depends on how many lessons in discipline you have. Getting it to a reasonable level is pretty much essential for paralyzing denizens.

I hope you meant mind. Focus Body is the inept skil.
Rika2007-06-19 08:32:48
So is invoke circle.

*wishes that Astrology and (maybe) healing was actually a choice for pvp too and MD's wouldn't always -have- to take hexes if they wanted to fight*
Astro may be usable...
More importantly though, you have to be mugwump. :/
Arix2007-06-19 08:51:40
damn stargazing frogs
Sylphas2007-06-19 09:48:10
Circle didn't stand out to me. Maybe because I've never forgotten LowMagic without immediately selecting it. Being paralyzed without focus body totally sucks when you don't realize why it's not working.

PvP is much more fun for a warrior, but as it was mentioned earlier, also much more expensive. You might ask yourself - do I need top-tier weapons to be a good PvP warrior? And the answer is, yes. Also, unless for a chance your weapons are high-precision accuracy ones, you'd need a SEPERATE set for PvE.
Also as it was mentioned before, Trans Forging warriors get full plate, which is superior to field plate and never decays, giving them an advantage in PvP against other warriors, and in PvE. As for other skills, it's really hard to fight without transing your weapon specialisation, Athletics should be put AT LEAST at strength level, preferably higher for Surge and Immunity goodness. As for the third skill - Moon is extremely good for PvP and PvE, Hunting is good for PvP if you have it at high ranks (pits, pits) but useless for PvE, excluding being able to find items easily.
I'm not even posting about Discipline or Planar, as all classes benefit from them.
Moondancers on the other hand, they aren't as fun to PvP with, but require a much lesser investment. If you do not intend to toad them (it's their version of half-mana kill), you can even forget about Wicca - the entourage will never kill a good PvPer, excluding the Pixie and the Crone, whose afflictions can help if the enemy has aeon. Other Fae (Sprite, Mother, Nymph spring to mind) are mighty useful for PvE. And also, Moondancers get Moon as a skill, which is very powerful on its own.
As for the third skill, Hexes are clearly superior. I do not believe it's that bad, because making Astrology or Healing as powerful as they are in PvP would make hexes useless, as they have NO utility or PvE uses at all. Making two-hex combos can be quite satisfactory, but it isn't as fun as warriors' maneuvers and strikes. However, it doesn't require you to buy expensive weapons either.
On races: Warriors need strength, strength and strength. High-level human, elfen lord, Krokani. Races like these. Rather ignore others, unless they have huge benefits - Loboshigaru regenerate health like hell, for example. Moondancers aren't really that stat-dependant - you can go either for tankier races (bigger con), or those who pack a bigger punch (high int). Mugwump are squishy, but very fast - you can aeon the enemy faster than they can drink quicksilver!

My advice would be the same as what some people have already said: Moondancer with Astrology. Moondancers make very good bashers thanks to drawdown and nymph/sprite/mother fae. Astrology isn't incredibly useful for fighting, but it allows you to give yourself spheres which can raise your intelligence (higher mana and damage), constitution (more health), defense against physical attacks, etc. - all of these, when they're positive, make bashing even easier. In order to be a very good basher as an MD, you have to reach transcendent moon (for drawdown), and learn enough wicca to get to nymph. Astrology isn't absolutely necessary, but it would come in handy.
At higher levels, two-handed warriors are hands-down the best bashers. At lower levels, warriors are hands-down the worst. As a Serenguard, you would have to pay for good hunting weapons (high speed, relatively high damage, precision doesn't matter much I don't think). You would also want transcendent moon (for drawdown), athletics (for surge), and knighthood to ensure you don't miss constantly. If you can get to all of these and get to a reasonable level (I believe around 65 or so), Serenguard would be a very good choice.
For me, the deciding factor is the RP. I like the coven/wiccan/moon aspects of the MDs (ironic, for those of you who know anything about me OOCly), and they have some fun rituals every once in awhile. Serenguards seem to have less in the way of RP community, but a good RP-centered member (like yourself) could probably change that.
EDIT: If you don't know what any of these abilities are that we're talking about, I would recommend a look at the Scrying Pool skill lists.

Alrighty, I know I'm repeating myself a lot, but I have to thank you all again. Fantastic advice with a lot of references to specific aspects of each archtype. Based on everything that has been presented to me, investment concerns (I can't push out a ton of credits at the moment), and my own personal rp feelings on it, I have decided to contact the Moondancers about acceptance. Hopefully I'll be able to weasel my way into the guild and start off in a new direction.
Once again, absolutely lovely help you've all given. It just reinforces the strong community feel that I remembered from before.
