I still think your classifications for slithering bloodredi is off. The nagaradja are definitely splinters of an Elder, and they're definitely serpentine. I'd suggest pestering Charune for info about who created Snake.

How do you know that for definite? Perhaps they are tainted beings of a different sort to orcs and viscanti?
Latest changes:
- Groups have been renamed.
- Incisors has been changed to cutting teeth, and canines to fangs, to be less real worldly.
- Charune has been split into Horned, those hooved animals with antlers, and hooved, ponies. Camels, donkeys and mules have been separated out, and placed into unclassified.
- On careful further study of moles and hedgehogs, I have decided to relocate moles to Fanged, and allocate hedgehogs to their own special kind, Hedgehog.
- Section on non-animals has been extended
- Spider types added

First, the caves they live in aren't tainted. Generally, all tainted creatures that we know of generally live in tainted areas.
Second, what would they have been tainted from? The Taint didn't magically turn animals into sentient beings.
Third, they think and speak and have their own little culture.
They're pretty much just like Centaurs--they just wouldn't fit into the mechanics of combat here, so they're limited to an npc role.

You have Gorgogs under both Aetherbeasts and Aetheric parasites. They're the same creature, even if they fit into both categories. Maybe put take them out of Aetherbeasts and put a note next to their entry in Parasites?
Anisu2007-06-24 15:31:31
so did the celestia farrier steal the pegasi from Faethorn, or are you confusing pegasus with unicorn?

No. I assume those were created before the Elder Wars like all of the other creatures. She was all wyrdy when Lyreth came through, so she wouldn't make something as cutesy as a lyrebird.
Ummm, she was a child when she made them, and was acting very cutesy at the time.
Vix2007-06-24 19:15:06
Lyreth arrived before Viravain's "death," and the first sort of "quest" with Lyreth's arrival involved finding a lyrebird (man that thing was annoying).
Viravain2007-06-24 20:07:43
Lyrebirds are not a new creation of Viravain's. They were a gift to him a very long time ago when she refused to allow him to give Raven a singing voice.
Daganev2007-06-24 21:08:11
oh sorry. somebody explained it poorly to me in the temple that day Viravain made Tabetha then.

*pat* Charune made Tabitha, not Viravain.

Too bad that isn't mentioned in game, because that would be really neat. Kind of like those Native American, African, etc. legends on 'How rain came to be' or 'Why rabbit is so fast'.

From other sentient races, like orcs and viscanti were. As far as I know Acknor isn't naturally tainted and orcs live there. But I could be wrong. But if you can prove to me there was an elder god called Naga or something, and he was seventh circle, I will allocate serpents to hom.

I know, I also have starfish twice, heh. But I'll fix gorgogs just for you.
Latest changes:
- Corrected location of pegasus and added great eagle and unicorn (thanks Anisu, dunno why the Nil I was thinking the falconer sold pegasi)
- Added bluebird, sparrow, dove and bluejay
- Added hamster!!!
- Totem animals now in green.
- Added animals with poisons in red.

I think that crows should be moved under Songbird Viravain. Lyndworms, grubs, gargoyles, and stone stoneghasts should be moved under Aetheric Parasites. Ants and termites should be added, and moed to a new class of animal along with gravediggers.

You know, you're kind of stubborn for someone trying to do research and make an official form of animal classification. If you want it to be complete, why don't you.. um.. do the research and make sure its correct rather than making assumptions? Isn't it your place to prove this list is correct, and not ours?
Just a thought.

Crows are not animals. Therefore they will not be classified as songbirds. Because songbirds are animals, and crows are not. They are filthy taintbeasts. So are gravediggers and the Earth plane monsters.
Every single animal in the list I have either seen, read of in the histories, or met a furrikin that looks like one. I have not met an ant or termite yet. Let me know where I can go see some?
EDIT: It appears I just rescinded everything I said here. Oh, and it also seems the Blacktalon druids are right about at least one of the followers of White Hart. I am a stubborn fool.

Hrm, so you're going to keep all the spiders, bats, wasps, etc listed normally even though they live in Glomdoring and could possibly be "filthy taintbeasts"?
Perhaps you should step back from your IC biases if you are creating an Animal Classification list in an OOC fashion for all to contribute to. I like to think I've tried to be rather helpful in the process but perhaps I should step back now and just watch.
And ants live in Newton.

You guys are making one assumption that could be incorrect.
You're assuming ravens and crows didn't exist together. Raven turned into Crow from Kethuru's touch, but that's the greater animal spirit. It doesn't mean that ordinary crows didn't exist before the touch. I think ravens and crows both existed in Lusternia but the touch of Kethuru turned the nicer Raven into the more dark Crow, supplanting the ordinary raven as the bird of choice in that commune.
Think of it this way. If Serenwilde rather than Glomdoring was touched, White Hart (a stag) might become Black Elk or Dirty Moose, but that doesn't mean stags and elks didn't exist before as complimentary subspecies, nor would it mean all deer become tainted.
In other words, the warping of a Great Nature Spirit doesn't mean all the animals were affected by said warping.
