Been a Hunter/Tracker since I started playing a year and half ago, and I finally Transed it maybe this past Nov? Dec? Dunno, don't care, but ever since I Transed, I keep looking over my skills and going, "What dafux up wid dat?" For instance, anyone with Totems can bond with Wolf and scent people (namely enemies) in the area. I can peer at the ground and go, "Look! There's four rabbits in this area!"
I like my wolves, I love them to death. They are the subject of many "Ooers," and pettings and a various list of other sundry actions from nearly everyone I meet, but :censored for your protection: I'm a freaking Transcendent Tracker, why the bloody hell can I not look at the ground, say to myself, "Hrm, looks like a snake went that way," and then follow the trail? Now you could bite back at me and have me follow a trail that's maybe 20 rooms long, but instead of me breaking my willpower in less than 30 minutes teleporting across the forest/swamp/mountains trying to track down some elusive creature for whatever I need it for, I'd actually be doing the work, not saying, "Fetch," to my wolf every time I want to find something. So what I would like, and maybe I'm crazy here, but a way to either follow the tracks (LIKE A REAL TRACKER), or follow my wolf, who is oh so wonderful at finding various things like trees, vipers, and people. I'm not asking for Scent, but maybe you could give it to my wolf? Maybe a little mind linking going on? Like he sniffs the air, and he tells me who's in the area.
Another thing I would like, and again, maybe it's just me being crazy, but how come I can't put traps in trees? Like darts. Those are perfect for the trees. Maybe a rigged branch? Works like a pit trap, when you try to step on it, it breaks and you fall! Same effect, diferent placement. What about net traps? Classic trap. You trip a wire and a net falls on top of you, writhe or use whatever skill you have to break out of it, there's even a chance to dodge it because you're awesome. Oh, and what's up with Deadfall? I have time to make an ANVIL??? It's a wonderful trap (if you haven't seen the animation, I'll gladly show it to you), and I laugh everytime I see it tripped because it brings back memories of WB cartoons, but seriously. Wouldn't a tree trunk make more sense, and be better flavor for a Tracker? Since my traps can only be used in "natural environments," wouldn't I, speaking from a real Tracker's perspective, think it makes more sense to just take a tree trunk and rig that up by a few ropes instead of an ANVIL.
/end rant
This is a call out to Trackers: If you've ever wanted something sooo bad, please, post it here. I love the Tracking skill, and while I know a lot of other skills need balancing and debugging, I would really like to see Hunting and Tracking get some more love. You don't have to be a Hunter or a Tracker, if you have a neat idea you think we could use or have seen in another game that could be adapted for Lusternia, please post it.
P.S.: Can I have more than one wolf, pweease???

Trackers need lots of nice little things, the utility skills they have right now are down right plain ol stupid. I still don't know why a tracker cannot scent, they are trackers

So you want to be able to track like aragorn off lord of the rings eh? Look at that tiny almost impossible to see speck of metal my allies! Daevos walked through here. Aha, that slightly out of place grain of sand! He walked by here. FOLLOW ME! I see a trail of untouched looking ground that's where he actually walked!
Yrael2007-06-22 00:56:52
I wouldn't mind the idea - if it accounted for Terrain types. No tracking on rock, etc. Sand does leave a lot of tracks, Athalas, and I'm not sure if you've seen, but a snake in anything but short grass leaves a hell of a trail.

I agree that it needs more of what you've described.
And hey, I'm still sore about that whole "mercenaries" thing. That's messed up. Warriors with this specialization who are not in a guild are called people who have lost the use of half their skills, NOT mercenaries.

I wasn't a Tracker for long but I wasn't a fan of traps at all. I think I was able to dismantle one or two traps ever with Trans Tracking and Fabled Environment. Any other time I tried doing anything with an existing trap I couldn't see them. If I remember right, a divine favour is probably to blame. If so, that's a misnomer. Its more like a 'game over' message to every other Tracker.

Sylphas2007-06-22 12:45:13
Sacraments wasn't meant to be the closest thing to a rogue skill we have, though.
