I'm inserting a few attachments here from an old comic. I don't want to ID the artist for you so I'd like somebody else to reveal who it is and see if anybody remembers this guy and/or this comic. If nobody does I'll say who it is.

But looking at the panels, this makes me think of several Lusternian things. So I'm curious what these pictures remind you of in the context of the game. I can think of at least a few things.

EDIT: This isn't a "contest", don't know why I called it that, there's no prize, but I just want to see what a few pictures like this make you think of.

QUOTE
This shadowy morphling possesses the form of a demonic-looking cat. Save for two red eyes, this beast is black as the night that spawned it. It has what appears to be a coat of black fur, but upon closer inspection, one notices that is flows slowly like water, shifting shape every few seconds. Pearl-white teeth are visible when its large mouth is opened, a startling contrast to the rest of its body. Massive paws lend support to the creature, and also partially conceal long, deadly claws. Never able to keep still, the cat paces back and forth, phasing in and out of view.
Nocturne, the morphling is a humble-looking creature.
He weighs about 600 pounds.
He is mountable as a legendary steed.
He is loyal to Archon Richter Carthan.

spur morphling skyward

Nocturne, the morphling shimmers softly as its exterior flows like water. Shuddering intensely, the morphling lets out a primal scream and black wings extend from its body. A second later, it resumes its quiet state, the massive wings looking almost natural on the beast.

Nocturne, the morphling flaps its wings a few times and lifts you into the skies.

Yeah, I'd say it reminds me of something.

Heh, I knew you'd think it was the morphling.

Me, I saw that view of the planes as being like Aetherspace.

It's from an old Comic in the Dragon Magazine called Wormy, done by Dave Trampier (who now lives as a cab driver in Minnesota and doesn't want anything to do with gaming or the comic, not even allowing collections of it for some reason).

Wormy was amusing. Somebody has an archive of the old comics.

My faves are the following:

http://www.angelfire.com/wa2/haroog/archive/056.htm
http://www.angelfire.com/wa2/haroog/archive/070.htm

(They don't seem to have the second story. Only two arcs were completed and then the third arc stopped just as it was getting started).

I assumed you meant aetherspace, but I also saw Ricther's pet.... as an aethership! tongue.gif

Heh, maybe Estarra can make the Morphling a limited Aethership that can claw other ships/beasts.

...I'd rather not.

I don't think Nocturne would like that either.
