So many Lusternians are from the US and Europe... is there anyone here from China at all, or is it just me?
No wonder it's off-peak when I wake up...

I believe Simimi is in China right now, though she is not from China afaik
Shiri2007-07-07 09:58:35
So that's why your timing is so weird.
Chade used to live there too...and apparently Razenth.
This whole Great Firewall of China situation is confusing me now though. How come Aramel and Razenth can get through but not Chade and Simimi?

Well, I've got a program that can get me through, but usually it's not needed. I mean, it's not like Lusternia does politics or anything, so I can connect normally.
It's just laggy like anything.

The CEO of Iron Realms likes to joke that we got banned because he made some derogatory comments about the Party. You'll still catch references to the highly nerfed skill of Ricemaking from time to time. He's also pretty quick to admit that it's more likely because there're political blogs sharing our subnet.
Talnar2007-07-08 01:38:11
I've always wanted to visit China. I heard that it's an absolutely beautiful place, even though I don't agree with Communism... At all. Period.

That is teh cool...
Wait. Since when did we have a Ricemaking skill?
@Talnar: The propaganda is most of the time. We who live here just listen and silently go "What the--" and get on with things. The latest fad is something called Ba Rong Ba Chi, lit. "the eight glories and eight shames", which makes me want to go "Mr Chairman, stop repeating yourself!". And we were supposed to memorize it in school, only the teachers never bother to check, so nobody actually did... the point is that now is different from the days of the Cultural Revolution-- people aren't so fanatical, few bother with the whole Party thing (except for the grandparents, who believe in it so much it hurts). It's why I opted out of joining the Communist Youth League and went to the Red Cross instead, which rather upset my teacher, but well.
Am I even making sense?

I go back to China in August. I'm not from China, but Thailand. It was told unto me that my uni blocked muds in general not just Lusternia, and I was simply mistaken in thinking they had a grudge against Iron Realms. My uni also unblocked lusty the day before I was leaving the country, so it will be unblocked there when I return. My fiance' is coming with me this time too!
I'll be in Beijing, at CUC, ä¸å›½ä¼ 媒大å¦ã€‚ It is on the Subway Batong Line, like... 1 stop from GuoMao.
I really do not see much Communism in China, really. It is so capitalist there it is ridicuous. I had to pay 25 Yuan to go inside and see the Great Mosque in Xi'An, one of the most renowned mosques in the world, to get pictures for my sister, who is a Muslim back home in Thailand. Everything has a price in China, even religion, apparently, even though I am not a Muslim.
No worries Aramel, we should be able to meet up in game at some point, especially once we are both playing on China clocks.

Yeah, China's communism is quite watered down nowadays. When people say China is "Communist," they don't mean like 1930s USSR Communism.
Still, one must wonder why Jiang Jieshi screwed up so much. Being Taiwanese myself, I'm supposed to revere him and stuff (there are like a million monuments to him in Taiwan), but I can only go bleh at him.

I have to agree... though with the rise of the new government back home, China is looking like a much nicer place. I never thought I would see my homeland, the greatest nation on earth, fall to such a craphole. We are right there with Vietnam and Laos and Burma, we are slipping....slipp.....ing...... >_>
I love China, it is like the U.S.A and Thailand all rolled into one big nation of attractive people. I have yet to see a person in China who was not georgeous in some way, shape, or form. It is a nation of hot people... HOW DARE THEY! =P
What gets me about China, is I had people come up to me and be like "I hate Mao" or "tiananmen sqaure 197x... yea that sucked" Its not like the just do not know what went down, they know just fine. What REALLY got me was when someone would be like "So you're Thai... what do you think of those Burmese?" and I would have to be like "Ummm...good question....Nothing against them... but I would prolly kill their leader given the chance..." then they would be all "But you're Buddhist right, you can't kill people?" and then I have to be like "Well... I -can- it just sucks for me in the afterlife"
Beware Chinese bearing questions... they are much in knowledge and like to ask hard pointy questions!

We're de facto capitalist, only the guys at the top call it Socialism with Chinese Characteristics.
@Simimi: I'm going to high school in the fall, though I'm not sure whether my school is near yours. It's beside Tsinghua University, so probably not (can you tell that I'm an idiot with maps? ). I've got a friend whose cousin is in ä¼ åª’, though.
Simimi2007-07-09 00:05:09
Tsinghua is far but not -that- far... but the subway ride would be hell though...
Yrael2007-07-09 23:33:55
The one recently emigrated woman I know from china is absolutly lovely, and thinks it is all :censor: force fed at top speed (the propaganda).
She is also quite happy about the lack of abortion clinics. The hell?

Yeah, I just got back to the US from China and I'm currently recovering from jetlag again.
I was in Shanghai.

I'll be back in China in August, sometime around the 25th or something... Look for me online then!
Chade2007-08-13 00:18:59
Chade is sad. Chade misses China.
Mezz2008-03-07 20:18:56

Well, I'm not far from China currently... I actually almost was going to take a trip to study there for two weeks or so and would have left this coming week, actually.
Gaetele2009-05-01 17:48:01
Not that anyone cares about this forum necro, but I'll be studying abroad in Hong Kong for a year.
Simimi2009-05-01 22:51:15
Yay! We can speak Chinese on messenger while you're there! I miss China too, might be going back in July even!
