I'm going to China to visit family over the summer, though I was born in the US and my grasp of the language is terrible Still, nice to see other people from there!

I spend a few weeks/months a year there generally now. I did a 1 year exchange there in uni for my Chinese minor, now I am working on professional fluency and the HSK examination preparation. So, I go back often for books/training materials, and to buy the occasional Mandopop album or pc game.

I so wanna go to China...or any other country in the world, for that matter. The farthest I've ever been outside of the US was Cozumel, Mexico when I was...a teenager, I think. I really, desperately want to go abroad one of these days...I'm sick of the same old scenery...but it looks like with the way things are going at my job right now and how the economy in general is doing, with no better jobs out there, it's never going to happen.

You can do anything and go anywhere. If you don't mind being poor and malnourished. Work 3rd class citizen-style for a year, vanish for 2-24 months. That's how I intend to travel: rucksack, bread and water, and a sleeping back. And maybe a crossbow.

Same here, except I'm also taking a hunting knife and killing other transients for their money and possessions. Also to eat.
