One thing I do every summer is start playing Christmas music in the last few weeks of July, once July 4th is over.
Yeah, Christmas in July. I recommend this to anybody. When it's hot, cool mentally with Christmas music. (And Christmas Videos if you have them).
Christmas Albums I am currently listening to.
The Nox Arcana Winter Knight album.
The A Charlie Brown Christmas Soundtrack.
Sarah McLaughlan's Wintersong.
A Peaceful Christmas (collection of New Age/Ambient X-Mas songs).

See, Christmas is right in the middle of summer here. When people have Christmas in July, it's cause they want it to be cold.
Every Christmas we go 'round to my auntie's house just after lunch, cause she has a big pool. Generally it's sweltering (I'm talking 35-40 degrees C), so we'll swim all afternoon until it cools down, then have a big family Christmas lunch at about 5:30/6, while it's still pleasantly warm and we all dry off.

Don't need to do this. It's been raining more or less constantly in England. We've barely had a summer.

Aussie freaks. How can you have a crackling fireplace next to your tree in the summer? Christmas is nothing without a fire going.

My family had a Christmas in July party just last night. It's fitting, because right now it's very, very cold. (Relative to how it usually is. Australia lol.)

XM Radio had a Christmas in July event for a single day with a special channel playing Christmas music.
And I saw Lifetime Movie Network playing Christmas Movies a few Saturdays in a row...

It actually always confused me when I was little, because I didn't understand why Christmas on the TV was all snowy and Christmas in real-life was hot. I honestly can't bring myself to like the idea of a cold Christmas, though, because it just seems wrong.

Heh. I live in New Hampshire, where it's cold most of the time. And a week or so after X-mas this year, i was outside playing paintball in 70 degree F. weather. It was insane! It's usually like... 10 below zero!
Okin2007-07-28 03:45:21
To give some perspective of even "Christmas in July" and how cold it gets - I've never seen snow. Not once in my life.
Unknown2007-07-28 05:24:28
I could never wrap my head around the notion that people in the southern hemisphere have snowstorms while we have thunderstorms and droughts while we have blizzards O_o I guess I've been too cloistered up here.
And Christmas in July, heard of it before but ... I don't get it :S

I live Massachusetts right by the border. We had such a mild winter. It was also the first winter I owned a snowmobile. Those two things don't work.
It also seems weird for me to think of Christmas without snow. It just seems like such an integral part.

It's the double post
