Eh, I'm really pulling for Harry -not- to die. I think it would ruin the series, in a multitude of ways. I'm not saying that just because it would be sad (I don't have a problem with sad endings, she can kill as many people as she wants, just not Harry.)

I mean, the whole series has been based around him learning to live. He's "the boy who lived". If she killed him, I think it would go against everything the series has been working for.

I think Dumbledore is dead, so to speak. I believe that he will return as a Phoenix. I say this, because, Phoenix's can't be born normal ways, can they? If so, they wouldn't be rare because they are immortal, and would quickly over populate. I believe that a Phoenix is created sometimes with a very powerful/pure wizard dies. I think that Fawkes was a wizard that Dumbledore was close to as a teenager.

I'm not sure about Sirius, and the quote from Luna in the movie really makes me think he will return. It was just a very NON solid way to kill someone, I mean, he just falls through a curtain? Obviously no one knows what happens when you fall through, because no one has ever returned. It seems like if she wanted him to DIE, he would have died a more solid death.

And Snape is not evil. : (

That's an intresting idea. But then again, Pheonix's might just be very hard to put into the mood. waggle.gif

HUGE SPOILERS, BUT I'M TOO LAZY TO BLACKOUT

*facepalm*

I forgot to mention the basis of the Phoenix theory:

At Dumbledore's funeral, his body erupts into a pillar of flame, and Harry catches a glimpse of a phoenix flying away. It wasn't Fawkes, as he already left Hogwarts.

Snape kills Trinity with Rosebud.

I don't think Dumbledore will turn out to be a phoenix. There's not enough setting it up in the prior books - and there's nothing in "Fantastic Creatures and Where to Find Them" under phoenixes about anything like that. I think it might just have been Dumbledore's magical way of dying.
Aison2007-07-13 03:41:59
I think I got it figured out because I've read the book a dozen times and Rowling leaves so many clues... but they're subtle and I don't want to ruin it for anyone else.

Nor do I know if I'm right or not. Not yet, at least.

I can't wait for the book though. The movie that just came out was surprisingly good, too.

...I think I broke the poll. sad.gif

Those are the poll results from before. oops.gif

With nine sleeps to go, and having just seen Order of the Phoenix for the second time, I'm getting a little bit excited. I'd really like to know what people think is going to happen, or what your theories are.

I think that Dumbledore's really dead, but the Snape is working for him still. I think Dumbledore made Snape agree to kill him when the time came, because Dumbledore knew that would convince Voldemort that Snape was completely a Death Eater, and that Snape will redeem himself at some crucial moment.

I think the sixth Horcrux (in addition to the book, the cup, the locket, the snake and the ring) is Harry himself.

I think Harry will die, and if he doesn't, I shall be mightily disappointed. He's a tragic hero; he needs the resolution.

EIGHT SLEEPS TO GO

I agree with you 100%!

Further I believe that
Dumbledore knew that his death would force Harry to take up the mantle. He also was, I think, dying anyway because of the damage done by that ring, and that's why he was willing to make Harry force him to drink that poison. I also think that Snape had told Dumbledore that he had been forced to make an Unbreakable Vow to kill him if Draco couldn't and Dumbledore told Snape he would have to because to not do so would mean losing Snape and Snape is too important to the cause.

Umn actually one of the supporting arguments on dumbledoreisnotdead.com was that after dumbledore fell no one actually saw his body. I forget if it was actually seen for too long between falling and the funeral but during the funeral the casket/body is covered and carried by hagrid.

The claim was the really, Dumbledore might not have even been at his funeral, there is all that other stuff about how weird the avada kedavra was, other little believed hints aledgedly dotted around.

Dumbledore is as dead as a doorknob, Snape is evil (get over it people) and Harry is going to die (please!).

Those're my hopes, too.

Honestly. Even if Snape was ordered to kill Dumbledore and is planning on turning and redeeming himself, do you think Harry'll forgive him? I think it's much more likely he's just an opportunist out for number one, and that his slaying of Dumbledore was only because he saw which way the tide was turning.

EDIT: Also Verithrax gets 10 points for quoting the second best webcomic in existence.

Harry is so not a tragic hero...

And he definitely isn't going to die.
Elyrian2007-07-16 03:44:14
I dont think harry is going to die, there are too many other possibilities, and I dont think that JK Rowling would completely finish her ability to write any more books.

Although I do tend to agree that Neville is going to play a bigger role in the final book. I agree that he has been in far too much for far to long not to be more important.

I am starting to get really excited about it now, and I cant wait for the book to be released.

ONLY 5 SLEEPS TO GO!!!!!

I cant wait!!!

my guess is that large numbers of readers will not be satisfied even if Harry survives (I'm betting he will)

Harry doesn't die, the King has spoken.

Great article though, you should read it.

Harry is not going to die. They're building a whole area of a theme park devoted to harry potter for goodness sake. What are they going to do, put in his grave and let you go visit it? That'd be fun!

In any case I shouldn't be posting here, I just finished book 4 and am working on rereading 5 and 6 before friday ohmy.gif!

Quick poll...Borders or Barnes and Noble? I can't decide!

In my town, Barnes and Noble is the one having the midnight release, so that's who I vote for! laugh.gif

I drive out to one of the odder bookshops (Atlantic Books Warehouse). Pre-ordering book 7 was 40% off of the typical price. Made me happy. They're also having a party at midnight that I get to take my niece to. There'll be cake for the kids, and coffee for the parents and guardians who would rather be sleeping.

Like everyone wanted to know that part.

But, point being - for anyone in the Tri-state area that is near one of the Atlantic Books, they've a decent price.

Oh I totally hope the book ends with a ten second black-out now.

Heh, it'd suck to be in America. In every other English-speaking country, we get it simultaneously with English 00:01 (which conveniently is 8:31 AM in my timezone tongue.gif), but you guys have to wait for local midnight. I'm so gonna have finished reading it before you guys have even touched it.
Unknown2007-07-17 16:57:10
I'm going to go to Costco at 10 AM on Saturday and get it for about half the price after not waiting in line. I will thus be rested and will be able to devote the day to a nice, quiet reading, completely avoiding the hassles and sleep deprivation involved with a midnight release.

All because I'm not such a giant fanboy.

o and if u spoil me i spoil da big part at da end cuz i hav a frend hu was a prufreadr (sp) and he alredy told me everythin so dont spoil >:(
Sylphas2007-07-17 19:03:20
Sleep deprivation? Psh. I don't normally go to sleep until 6am anyway.
