I'm going to go to Costco at 10 AM on Saturday and get it for about half the price after not waiting in line. I will thus be rested and will be able to devote the day to a nice, quiet reading, completely avoiding the hassles and sleep deprivation involved with a midnight release.
All because I'm not such a giant fanboy.
o and if u spoil me i spoil da big part at da end cuz i hav a frend hu was a prufreadr (sp) and he alredy told me everythin so dont spoil >:(

Most places like Borders/Barnes and Noble are already selling it for at least 40% off, so it's not even expensive, something like 20 bucks I think?
But I am also a huge fangirl and will be waiting in line for 5+ hours so I can be one of the first to get it, then run to my car with my roommate so no one can POSSIBLY spoil it for us and we will then stay up all night reading it before a company picnic. *cackle*
Yes it's sad I have this totally planned out.

Yeah, the only reason I would go to a midnight release would be to make sure I am first in line. If I was able to secure this coveted position, I could then slowly walk out of the store while reading aloud from the last sixth of the book at the top of my lungs.

I know at least four people planning to do this, and at least twelve planning to beat them to death if they try it.
Also, I'm going to be at a midnight release, and to add nerdity to the affair, I'm going to see OOTP again beforehand. I draw the line at a costume, though I may bring a piece of wood to jab overbearing nerds in the eye with while screaming "CRUCIO!"

I just finished rereading Half-Blood Prince - there was a lot of stuff I forgot about. Like "R.A.B.". I want to find out who that is and what his deal is.

I had forgotten about that too until I read that part again the other day. I then heard an interesting theory, that this might be Sirius's brother who has been missing for so long. If you go back and read Order of the Pheonix, where they explain Kreacher's nest, there is mention there of a locket, it is just listed as one of many of the things in there. But the part that makes this even more interesting is that apparently they were going to leave Kreacher out of the Order of the Pheonix movie but JK told them that if they did this they would not be able to make the 7th movie.
I could be completely wrong - but guessing at what is gonna happen is kind of fun!!!

I realize there is apparently a pirated copy of the book online.
I swear if anyone mentions anything in game or on the forums I will personally purchase a ticket to your hometown and kick you so hard you will never have children.

I second this!!! I talk about what I think might happen, but this is only based on my own assumptions and hear say. I cant purchase the book until 5 hours after it is released here in Aus, becasue I have to start work at 8:30 and it is released 8:31am. But I DONT want to know what happens until I read it for myself.
Unknown2007-07-18 03:57:17
I heard of this too, I would also perform a whole lot of face kicking if anyone reveals it. However the copy is all in pictures of the pages and supposedly unreadable
Okin2007-07-18 04:04:04
I'm really shocked that there's one online. Appalled.
I do hope JKR releases that compendium of all the background info she's got but has not ended up using. I'll buy it.
Also, autobiography plz.

I have no doubt you would literally be beaten half to death by crazed fans.

And we would mourn for the damaged book (not him though)

"nnnNOOOOO!!! You $*%&@!"
If all goes well I shall have the book Friday afternoon... cause Mom works at the library.
Stangmar2007-07-18 17:25:48
Yes, i've been rereading all the books too in order to be refreshed for this one. I'm just about done with Half-Blood Prince again. And i thought that the librarians who get the book before Saturday are supposed to keep it to themselves, and not even hint any of the events to ANYBODY whatsoever. At least that's what my aunt who's a librarian and gets the book two days early tells me.....
I still laugh at that video of the guy going in to a bookstore at midnight at the release of Half-Blood Prince, opening to the back of the book and yelling the ending to everybody, followed by some woman screaming vulgarities at him.
I personally can wait a few days, and have chosen to pre-order it with free shipping, so i will get it within the next week some time. That way instead of standing in line like a tool for 5 hours, i will walk out refreshed at 3 in the afternoon sometime next week, after having just woken up, check the mail, and sit down to a nice easy day of reading.

Oh, and i think that Voldemort will die after eating bad eggs, and that Neville and Luna, sick of enduring years of bullying at hogwarts, will come in and kill everybody.
Arix2007-07-18 17:40:05
hehehe, advanced copy! Here, have some spoilers...
I'm just kidding, you didn't think I was serious? Cuz, you know, they killed him. (Sirius, that is)
Talnar2007-07-18 17:50:24
What was Sirius' brother's name again? I think that R.A.B. theory has some credit to it...
And I can say this right now. This weekend/next week, Lusternia'll be dead.

Regulus A. Black
Unknown2007-07-18 18:58:48
Well, given that in all the translations where the "Black" name was changed to an appropriate word, the "B" in "R.A.B." changed to match, it's a pretty sure bet.
Why the hell this matters to you people, though, I have no clue.
