Oh, fine then, Verithrax.

I'm kind of curious what constitutes a defeat. Could Ginny tie Harry up in some sort of twisted BDSM fantasy (I was actually hoping harry would die and ginny would try for rigormortis filled FUN!) count as remastering the wand? Someone smackingb him in the back of the head without him retaliating? And chances are the sorting hat gave it to him before it burnt. Which I thought was entient and unique, so how did they make a new one?

White Hart's on the inside flap of the dust cover! Yay!

Oh, right, I'm supposed to read the book.

They're in all black. Just don't read them, it's fine. (I haven't finished reading it yet but all I have to do is not highlight their text and np!)

And yeah, I noticed White Hart too...but I never thought about it vis. Prongs in any of the previous books. I guess just because I didn't see it visually.

The epilogue was retarded. I thought the last chapter would've been a perfect finish.

I got it last night, just walked right in to Kroger's (grocery store for those not familiar) and left. However, my friend did drag me to Border's to wait in line for her pre-ordered book for about an hour before I got mine so I wasn't spared from Harry Potter mania. However I stayed up until about 6 a.m. reading and then went to sleep for a bit and then finished the book today. It was a lot different from th other ones and took me longer than usual to get into it but I really enjoyed it. The epilogue was rather cheesy but it was amusing.
Verithrax2007-07-21 21:35:42
I thought the epilogue was endearing. Silly, of course, and Rowling's allegation that she wrote it years ago "So she'd have something to work towards" was also rather silly (Given how the epilogue reveals virtually nothing of what happens) but I think it earned a place in the book because of
Albus Severus Potter
.

Although some of the deaths were totally unnecessary, like
Fred's, which was there just so Rowling could say she doesn't give anyone a character shield, which after Harry's bout of rigomortis-filled fun is nothing short of ridiculous
.

Agreed. The rest of the book was quite good though.

I'm loving the scene where Ron, Hermoine and Harry find Snape and bump him around while singing "Bother Bother Bother!"

Ok this sudden excitement with the Healing skillset has impeded my posting.
The book in general was quite mediocre... Though I'm not disappointed much, can't say I was totally exhilarated.
On the Bright side at least the tormenting is done, No more Books to await!!!
Finally I can seek out a book that isnt that commercialized anymore (I still miss the times when only few friends of mine knew about HP sad.gif )
(Started at 9pm last night and finished at 3am)
Forren2007-07-22 06:53:35
I just finished it.

Awesome book, but yeah, the epilogue royally sucked.
Raiha2007-07-22 07:29:04
I agree with everyone that the epilogue was a complete waste of my time.

Okay, now for the spoiler-licious part... I found the death of Tonks and Lupin to be absolutely horrible and not necessary, though I'm slightly biased because I've always been a Lupin fangirl... I knew a Weasley had to die at some point, and it's rather poetic that it was one of the twins, though I was hoping it'd be Percy. Git. Hrm, what else... Oh, haha, Draco's random insanely important role made me giggle. And I told you Snape was so dead! In the end, the parts that made me bawl the hardest were when it recounted Lily and James's death, but the part that had me going for a good ten minutes was the death of no other than Dobby. For some reason, that killed me.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head, though I'm rather groggy since I've been reading for the past 12 hours to get the book finished before vacation... that is all. Also, much of that was rambling but I need to share it with somebody since I'm still reeling from the fact that it's over.

I agree with you about Tonks and Lupin. I do think there were a few too many random deaths here, which bothered me. Moody's death early on wasn't particularly tone-setting or necessary. I liked the way Snape's issue was resolved. I wonder what that baby thing at King's Cross at the end was supposed to be, specifically.

The epilogue annoyed me because it was too nice (and that from me is weird because I hate sad endings). I disagree with Sham and Jack that the last chapter made a good ending because it didn't wrap things up, I just wish the epilogue had been different.

Anyway, good book, no one is surprised.

EDIT @Verithrax:
I don't see why Neville couldn't have yanked the sword like that. Only a true Gryffindor could produce it, but it's not exactly stated anywhere that the sword was actually bodily stored in the hat before that, it could easily be summoned or something.
