When all the Hallows are together, Harry's wand turns turquoise-blue and he can use it to pick up Death Eaters and throw them at other Death Eaters.
(Many, many VeriPoints to whomever gets that joke.)

I actually liked the ending, which I thought was very fitting with the theme presented throughout the book - namely that the final battle between Voldemort and Harry was settled long before Harry had ever arrived to duel him. Voldemort had killed himself by forsaking his humanity and soul in the form of his evil acts and the Horcruxes, and it was cemented by his unwillingness to show remorse (which Dumbledore explained was the only way a wizard could un-do a Horcrux).
Overall a great book!

Until the very last word (including the f--ing epilogue) I just couldn't believe Hedwig really died that way right in the first few pages.. that just seemed so out of place. From the beginning on she didn't do -anything-, never interacted with Harry. I really thought she'd come back at some point. Hell, from the way it was written she might have been dead in the cage in the house already.. I just really thought she'd come back because it seemed so unreal to have her go that way.

I'm rather more surprised that Harry didn't ever stop and mourn her. At the time, sure, he was worried about Hagrid, then the others not being back, but damn, at some point you get a break, and then most people would be like, "Oh snap, my owl died, let's mourn a bit."

Well, it was kind of overshadowed by Moody's death. Going "boo hoo my pet owl died" seems a little silly right after Moody's funeral.

Did anyone else think it was out of character for Harry to let Tonks just run of and fight? I thought he would of kept her from fighting so the baby would at least have one parent around

Harry Potter is ruining my immersion.

I think the reasoning here is that she is taking care of the baby by fighting.

At that point, he was kind of busy, and he'd already had that fight once with Remus and it was a huge emotional deal and he probably didn't feel like doing it again.

To be continued in A. S. Potter and the Rehashed Plot, the first in the sequel series set in the near future. Will be released upon the discovery that fans will buy anything that J. K. Rowling puts pen to, regardless of the quality.

Think it's been discovered already.

You mean you've never read another series that does that? You must be sheltered.

Lame, she's had the final product for years. You'd think she'd have time to write out an encyclopedia over the past four, five years.
Okin2007-07-27 06:58:21
Because she hasn't been busy, you know, writing the books.
Seriously, she finished Deathly Hallows in January, and she's had two kids while writing the series.

Time for my two cents! FINALLY! I just got the book Wednesday, ahead of schedule, seeing as the e-mail that I got from Amazon said that I'd be getting it yesterday, but whatever. I finished in about a day, and here are my thoughts about it:
Overall, I thought the book was freaking fantastic. It kept me on edge the ENTIRE time I was reading it! And it didn't have basically the same plot that it had from the other books, being them going to school, doing stuff at school, X-mas comes, school starts again, fast forward to Exams, then "OHH ! IT'S VOLDEMORT!" The plot of this story was amazing. Voldemort taking over everything, giving the impression that he was everywhere was put a really good spin to it. However, I must say that when Hermione, Ron, and Harry were all hiding out in the woods, that kinda slowed things down for me, but they picked up again really fast. The stuff that happened at Godric's Hollow.... confused me at first... Luckily Hermione told us what really happened, since I was like, "Okay... Harry's alone in a room with an old lady, then all of a sudden Voldemort's coming, the old lady crumples as Nagini comes out, then Harry's bitten, Hermione shows up... GAH! This is happening too fast!!!" But, I get it now! lol. The final part of the book at Hogwarts was just absolutely amazing. The fact that Nevil, of all people, little Nevil was leading a Guerilla war against Snape and the Carrows just made me give Nevill a million imaginary bonus points! Finally he becomes a key player in everything! The fight scene between Voldemort and Harry at the very end... OMG! That was just cool! You already knew ANYWAY that he wasn't going to die because all the Hallow's considered him their owner, making it so that no matter what, Harry wouldn't die. The fact that Harry was just kinda all, "Dumbledore" on Voldemort, and Voldy's just standing there all dumbstruck, like, "D-don't you know who I am...? I'm Voldemort, ...!", that was really cool. I also liked how it revealed more to the Dumbledore that we already knew. For the longest time, he was portrayed as this all-mighty figure who couldn't do wrong, then we find out that when given power, he goes corrupt and doesn't care for anyone. That was cool, and I think we all needed to know that Dumbledore wasn't as "Saintly" as he was portrayed for so long. And finally, I must admit, that Dobby's death made me very, very sad. I didn't cry, but I felt the tears coming, and I had to beat them down. His death was heroic, and he deserved to be remembered as a hero, not that annoying elf that nearly killed Harry in the second book! All in all, however, I think this book was just fantastic, and that I'm now really sad, because there're no more famous books coming out that I really need to read! (Well, besides the third book in the Inheritence (Eragon) series, but who knows when that's coming out? It's been a bloody 1.5 years since Eldest first appeared!!)

I didn't find the book fantastic at all. It was actually quite dull (alot of the time) compared to some of the other HP books.

So, does this mean that Professor Trelawny (sp?) may have been right about the grim all those times?
And did Snape banish Harry from taking Occlumency because Harry started seeing his past? That would have ruined the plan, after all, if Harry saw too much about Snape's childhood.
