Monk guild referendum

Does anyone know what the four specializations are for the monk guilds? The referendum specifies the Serenwilde one as "Shofangi" but doesn't name the others. I'd like to know them all before I vote.

Anyone know? Or have they not even been determined yet?

I doubt they have been chosen, as of yet. There are probably a bunch of 'maybe's' floating around and what not. I, personally, want the Magnagora Monks to be the Reapers or something.

The question doesn't seem to be about guild names, but about referendums (which may actually be somewhat tied together... I guess we'll see).

Still-- what referendum?
Furien2007-07-13 19:16:37
These were the 'preliminary names', but we were also allowed to make our own (like in the referendum).

(I hope I'm allowed to post this! >_> )

Serenwilde: Shofangi
Glomdoring: Nekotai
Celest: Bokenda
Magnagora: Ninjaka

(Edit: Thanks, Xenthos. These -may- be the names of the specs, and each of the guilds would be named after their specializations- like the 'School of Shofangi' for those that use Shofangi, etc. It doesn't denote what weapons any of them will use, because 'Shofangi' has nothing to relate with the real name for seren weapons.)

Wait, are those the names of the specs or the names of the Guilds?
Xenthos2007-07-13 19:17:59
Alianna has it slightly backwards. Those are the names of the specs, and Estarra said she was thinking of naming the guilds after the specs.

Ninja'd.
Xenthos2007-07-13 19:20:43
And I'm still a bit wrong. Those are the *proposed* names for the specializations, not the final ones. All names are subject to change. We can not be held liable for their modification (and so on and so forth).

The question is really should they just be named for their weapon or rather a unique name. All guild names right now are in someway descriptive of them and the specs were mentioned as a possible name. While other suggestions were floating around a specific theme

All guild names are pretty much like that. I actually like the names. Ninjaka is very subtle. dead.gif

Magnagora: Ninjaka

It is horrible. sad.gif
Much, much worse than the other ones.

Magnagora: Ninjaka

Glomdoring: Nekotai (Why am I thinking of Viravain's cat?)

Celest: Bokenda

Well. About sums my feelings about the names. Sorry if this doesn't really contribute much.
Unknown2007-07-13 21:17:18
As long as Glomdoring's specialization's name has nothing to do with the actual weapons, I'm good.

And it's a bit difficult to vote for which method of naming is best if we aren't aware of the final spec. names. If they end up being something horrid, it'd obviously be best if the names were more Lusternian.

My guildhopping urge is becoming stronger. I'm so tempted to start saving up credits to become a monk.

Must resist the urge!

*whimper*

By the way, will the Serenwilde and Celest styles have any similarities because they're taught by the Kephera?
Furien2007-07-13 21:28:39
Serenwilde and Celest get the kephera-taught skill of Harmony.

Magnagora and Glomdoring get a skill taught by the Illithoid, of which we currently know nothing.

I don't like all the guild names being based on compound words and and having meaning, and then these new monk guilds being completely alien. (though maybe thats the point of having the undergound unknown races.)

I don't really like these suggestions listed. I think it would be better to have the specs named after the weapon type.
Sylphas2007-07-13 22:43:51
Do Glomdoring and Magnagora even like the Illithoid? I'm still wondering why you'd have a race that all the histories have basically primed us to hate, and then try and work with that. Especially when you do a split down the middle of the basin that may or may not make any real sense.

Also, if those names stick, I'm always going to think of ninja kitties in Glomdoring.

I think Glom and Mag just don't care either way about illithoids or shrugged it off if they do.

But but... I thought Serenwilde's was going to be Bullshido sad.gif

Glomdoring: Nekotai

I will throw a tantrum if Glomdoring monks will use claws (think Wolverine) as a weapon.

However, I will laugh hysterically if they will actually use cats. Throwing them or just holding and brandishing at the enemy, doesn't matter.
