I will throw a tantrum if Glomdoring monks will use claws (think Wolverine) as a weapon.
why?
Unknown2007-07-13 23:22:51
Because Glomdoring is too emo to have such a fanboi weapon.
Okay, actually it's because it would mean the admins made the following matchup:
neko=cat (in japanese)=claws
Which is, in my opinion, kinda lame.

Do Glomdoring and Magnagora even like the Illithoid? I'm still wondering why you'd have a race that all the histories have basically primed us to hate, and then try and work with that. Especially when you do a split down the middle of the basin that may or may not make any real sense.
Also, if those names stick, I'm always going to think of ninja kitties in Glomdoring.

We see Illithoids as "any other race" really. I think Magnagora has the same view.

Ninjaka....ick.
Others are cool.
And I definately think naming after specialization is better then mangling compounds that have no purpose.

Nekotai = neko te = cat claws. Like bagh nakh. Not like wolverine things, I'd think.
EDIT: And @Hazar: our speculative mangled compound has purpose. I won't mind Shofangi if we get stuck with it, but our name is definitely not bad.

If the Magnagoran guild would be Ninjaka then I am definitely voting against naming them after specializations O_o.

with that said,
For some reason, I find it easier to imagine Magnagora using the claws an preforming Mortal Kombat like Fatalities with 'em.
With the heavy usage of shadows an secrecy within Glomdoring, they just scream ninjitsu. Even with Nature Flow, the communes are already more shinobi like then either city could be. I also find it far easier to imagine a Glomdoring using a Kunai, shurikin, or suntetsu more so then a Magnagoran.
Though, my two cents aren't worth squat now.

Ninja ka? Boken da
In japanese ninja ka would be translated as "Ninja?" And Boken da would be "A Boken" or something like that
And if Magnagora gets ninja skills, expect Orti to stick there...

Should monk guilds be named after their specialization?
Description:
We are considering how to name monk guilds and would like input
from the playerbase. The choices are to name the guild after
their specialization. For example, the Serenwilde monk guild
would be called "Shofangi". Thus, when joining the guild, it is
akin of entering the School of Shofangi, which also reinforces
that you are learning a certain martial arts style (i.e.,
shofangi). Otherwise, each monk guild would have a more
traditional guild name (like the Silverhorns). If we go with
naming the guild after their specialization, all future monk
guilds will all be named after their specialization (making the
naming convention unique but consistent for monks).
Choices:
1. (85) Monk guilds should be named after their specialization
2. (55) Monk guilds should have traditional guild names

Nooo...oh well. At least Seren gets a usable one either way. Ninjaka, heh.

I voted for traditional names so that it didn't cause confusion between whether one is talking about the guild as a whole or just the spec. However, if they were called different things, like "School of Shofangi" and "Academy of Ninjaka" then that problem would b e nullified, as we could just call them the School and the Academy. And, despite this potential problem, the first choice sounds a lot more fun.

I have a very bad feeling about monks
Unknown2007-07-14 18:26:23
I'm pretty sure the names are at the mercy of the Organistation Leaders' wishes. Bai Ninjaka. Please
Unknown2007-07-14 20:25:44
The archetype that will really intrigue me when it eventually comes out will be the morphing/bonding archetype. My opinion of Lusternia balances fluctuates enough to annoy even me, but that is the kind of thing Estarra and co. should be able to do really well

Wha? None of the admins have ever said anything about a bonding archetype.

Hmm did a quick search of Bokken. Asuming the spec names are connected someway to the weapons... aww, Celest only gets wooden (training) swords?

I don't care what anyone says, Ninjaka ftw

They don't seem to be (completely) tied to the weapons.

I think Celest gets samurai.
