On the way out of my new town, "Tiffin" I passed a strip joint right? Nothing new. Tiffin seems to be Party Town Ohio...I live behind 5 bars :/
Anyway. Not 40 feet from this stripper bar, there is a medical institution LOL

You like whorish, drug laden, feebleminded idiots that rely on sex appeal to cover up their poor lipsyncing of equally poor music?

My young friend, who countries have gone to war over this small notion. Even the memory of what Britney used to be like is enough for many people to go see her ad try to infuse the memory over the current.

Assuming that's true. Isn't it poor form to mock her because of it? *catch22*
Anyway, today I tried out three new recipes for dinner, and they were all successful. Especially the kiwi-salad. I love cooking up new stuff.

Just beat Tom Clancy's HAWX today. Good ending. What would've made it cooler would've been an in-missile cam of your last shot going towards the bad guy's hot tub.
Also, the multiplayer update wasn't bad either, it made it more enjoyable by making some planes handle more realistically (such as the F-117; it's really supposed to handle like a brick, certainly does IRL), and nerfed the EMP Strike (which used to just make your plane fall out of the sky with no chance to recover). DLC (consisting of just 16 new planes) was a bit overpriced, though.

So, I finally got my insurance money this weekend.
And so, I went and bought a car!
It's a 2003 Hyundai Sonata. I don't like it quite as much as my Focus (I really loved my Focus ) but it's a nice enough car for a used car. It's got a sunroof!
I had enough money to pay cash for it and drive it home free and clear, but decided to pay only 2/3 of it down and then do the rest in payments. Yes, it makes it a little bit more expensive in the long-run with interest and yes it means I have to pay more for insurance while I'm paying for it so I won't have a lot of extra money this year, BUT it also is going to help build back up my sucky sucky sucky credit!
With the money left over, I paid off my credit card (also will help with the credit rebuilding!), paid a small chunk of principle off my old student loan (getting me closer to finishing that off and helping with the credit rebuilding), paid an old Sprint bill (paying off bad debts - credit rebuilding!), caught my utilities all up, put a small chunk into savings.
I had also budgeted myself one expensive electronic toy (cause I won't be able to really splurge for a while after this). It was between an iPhone, a Wii and a Kindle. I really want all three of them, but I do have a cell phone. So, the iPhone - nifty as it is, was at the bottom of the list. Deciding between the Wii and the Kindle was difficult cause I've wanted both for like ever. But, I finally picked the Kindle. Cause, I can take it with me anywhere and packing books when moving is just the worst!
My Kindle arrives Tuesday!

Glad you got the Kindle, the novelty of the Wii wore off really fast for me. I never play it anymore - it's only worth having for a couple of games.

The Kindle
I got the 6" one, not the DX, cause the DX is too big really. I wouldn't be able to carry that around in my purse! Plus, the only real advantage is the much larger storage space - but if I ever get more than 1500 books, Amazon stores what you buy on their servers anyway so I can just swap them out on the device if I need to so it's not worth the more than $100 difference.

I've had one for about a month and at this point I can barely stand to look at the old style of books! The Kindle is really wonderful. It truly disappears and it's just you and a book, no need to think about the screen or the glare or the buttons or the technology... but without the problems of a book. My advice, though: definitely get the leather cover, but when you're reading, take it out. The cover protects well, but it almost triples the weight. No need for it while reading, just while carrying.

I enjoy the old style. Maybe its the fact I don't like reading books on the computer..and that I like the feel of books.

From what I can tell, from user reviews, photos and so on, reading books on a Kindle is nothing like reading books on a computer. The display is set up to resemble a printed page in tone and contrast and so on. They call it eInk or something. And I never really get what folks are talking about when they say they like the feel of regular books. They like the weight of it? The page turning? The paper? What?
Me, I'm looking forward to never having to tote around the extra weight when I travel - cause I always take two or three books when I go anywhere - now I can take up to 1500! Or having to replace books I've reread to the point of falling apart. Plus, all the paper I'm saving is nice too.
Unknown2009-06-22 16:40:57
I dunno. There's somthing about the sound of a page turning, about that nice smell you get from an older book, and the feel of the book in your hands that I doubt an eBook can quite replicate.

Agreed. Even if the kindle lets it 'look' like paper its just not the same... and I'm OCD about my books. If there is a paged ripped or something, I will most likely buy a new copy (and all my copies need to be the same cover type (if its a series, I perfer hardcover)
Unknown2009-06-22 17:07:37
Yeah, I would never use a Kindle myself. I need the tactile feedback a real book gives you...and the smell is important. Even new books have a smell. Smell is the sense most strongly related to memory, I feel that it's important when reading.
Lendren2009-06-22 20:30:26
Those are all the same complaints I thought I would have, too. Tactile feedback, the image quality of a laptop screen versus paper, the smell, the convenience. Lots of people imagine a Kindle will be like reading their computer screen. Most of my friends said the same things you guys are saying about why they'd never use a Kindle. Having tried out mine, most of them are saving for a Kindle of their own. It's really not like what you imagine it to be, or what your experience with other ebooks is like. But you won't believe me until you do it yourself.
