Melee weapons for anything besides hunting are for people too lazy or poor to get the appropriate modern projectile weapon.

What are you hunting that is so slow and helpless that you can kill it with a hand weapon?

My father and mother opened a shop recently, its not going as well as should so the presents this year consisted of, well, nothing.

But the holidays helped draw attention to the shop, and now more people know about it, so the business is shaping up. So everything seems like it is going to be fine anyways, which is very nice for my parents.

EDIT: And it's certainly not my style, but fur bearers are generally hunted with melee weapons when traps aren't an option.

I have one of those too. I almost put out the money to buy that AK, but didn't feel the need to spend that much.

Rave for the hilariously lopsided Holiday Bowl. The commentators are even joining in on it now. First, they were enthusing about the awesome Nebraska defense. Then, the commentators started making sympathetic noises towards Arizona. Then there was just awkward silence. Now they're just making fun of them. My favorite was "This is boring. You guys want to talk about the Rose Bowl now?"

Meh. I favour the 4 foot long piece of tempered steel. Honestly, the best defence is not being able to be hit, and there's a considerable range difference there. Besides, again, there's a reason that Longswords were such a prevalant weapon. It's effective.
