My grandma will be here soon for a visit. happy.gif

She's helping me move.

I went swimming today. I haven't had an honest workout in a long time. It feels good to be active again, and I'm meeting neat people.

Damn kid, you destroyed that SAT. Makes me feel lame about my 1980. laugh.gif Awesome job!
Lillie2010-05-28 16:46:35
Rave: I never took the SAT!
Felicia2010-05-28 17:13:10
I should retake the SAT now that it has two distinct, non-math-related segments.

I earned a respectable score back in 2001... 1430/1600, I think? Nearly all of my lost points were from the mathematics segment.
Sylphas2010-05-28 17:51:09
My highest combined scores in Math and Verbal were 1540/1600. I should take it again and see if I can perfect any of the sections, although writing tests always destroy me for some reason. I figure I can just skip that part since it won't matter now. Taking the SATs is fun, I've done it 5 times now, 7th, 8th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grades. 1100 in 7th and higher each time. smile.gif
Everiine2010-05-28 17:57:35
I took the SAT, but didn't have to. My 33 on the ACT was enough for me, and none of the schools I applied to needed both ACT and SAT.
Lendren2010-05-28 19:18:03
I think I got a MDCLXXX on mine. (I'm so old, they were scored in Roman numerals back then.)
Furien2010-05-28 19:41:55
Visited the choir during 3rd period today and got to practice with them.

My voice is hilariously bad, but Glee songs are really, really fun to sing.

I don't know what it is about these people, either - they've got some sort of Noola Syndrome, with this chronic happiness and laughter and smiles going on. It's really disorienting.
Sylphas2010-05-28 19:45:28
They probably ARE Noola. She's the collective spirit of Happy. She's going to get her own commune one day.
Lillie2010-05-28 23:08:40
I fixed this!
Ileein2010-05-29 01:56:01
I am deeply, deeply amused by Catullus 16. Clearly studying Latin has its own rewards. Any poet who manages to begin a poem with "I will censor.gif and censor.gif you, censor.gif -sucker Aurelius and censor.gif Furius" has my eternal respect.

Right now though, I'm the collective spirit of sore and tired. laugh.gif

I love how specific Latin is compared to English sometimes. It makes things so much more fun.

At first all I managed was a sort of strangled "Oh good lord."

Then I lol'd, because actually that's a pretty good poem, as far as conveying the poet's point. laugh.gif

Latin? Specific? You must mean something like Pig Latin or some language derived from Latin. Latin can't even distinguish between the most basic of linguistic constructs when nested.

The Wikipedia article Ileein linked claims, "Latin is an exact language for obscene acts, such as pedicabo and irrumabo, which appear in the first and last lines of the poem."

In the context of this discussion, at least, Sylphas isn't remiss in making such a statement, even if one doesn't put much stock in Wikipedia regarding matters of scholarship.
Sylphas2010-05-29 05:47:08
Yeah, each language has it's own strong and weak points.
