Today I bought Call of Cthulhu and Other Weird Stories by H.P. Lovecraft, and Jeff Buckley: Live in Chicago on DVD. Very excited for Christmas break when I can enjoy both of them.

One of my favourite artists and my all-time favourite author. Savour the flavour, buddy. content.gif

After about 15 hours of work, I got all the code done that my professor said we should shoot for. I'm pretty pleased with myself, considering I have barely laid my eyes on java in the last 4 years. So I bought myself a new cd on iTunes biggrin.gif

I need to reread Northern Lights. I read the Amber Spyglass first, then the Subtle Knife, which was pretty awkward.

(My mum thinks the gay angels are hilarious. I'm as surprised as Mr. Pullman that he wasn't nailed to the Vatican-pointing side wall of his house or something when he published it in America...)

I just made some tomato soup, threw in some garlic, rosemary, sea salt, pepper, oregano, etc. and topped it with shredded mozzarella.

I am such a happy little eater right now. happy.gif

Amen to that.

One week left in the semester. Then I shall be free of the ills of scholastic life for a whole month!

I just got home from watching The Golden Compass. I liked it! Wanna read the book now though cause the books are always better.

Anyway, the whole time I was watching the movie, I kept thinking, "Wow... Tae'daes really are cool!" laugh.gif

The book is very very good. But you'll need to get the whole trilogy, because the book actually ends a bit after where the movie does.. for some strange reason, they decided not to take the movie to the end, cause I guess they didn't want to have to make the second if the first didn't do well.

Still though, great trilogy.

I really want to see it. I read that the studio thought cutting out the last three chapters would make people want to go see a second. No idea where that idea comes from, if you end a movie like how the book ended then I would start marking down the days for the sequel.

They ended it so well for a sequal though, they have to make it! And yeah, I'm planning on reading the trilogy definetly.

I so want a little critter-demon-soul thingie that follows me around and talks to me. laugh.gif

The ending of the book was way more better though, in my opinion. That, and the book had all the religious stuff. I was reading a review of the book and it made a comment like "the Magisterium, which seemed a lot like the Catholic Church" or something like that.. and I wanted to smack my forehead, cause the Magisterium is the bloody Catholic Church.

That, and for some reason they changed Iorek's nemesis' name. And I just cannot understand that. It's totally totally pointless and annoys me muchly.

I hate when they do this kind of thing. Changing the title from "Northern Lights" is even more major one. Why change the source material like that!?

The book in America is called "The Golden Compass," so they aren't responsible for that one. Though "The Golden Compass" as a title does fit better with the other two titles.

But changing the name Iofur to Ragnar is just.. bwah?
Unknown2007-12-09 07:52:07
Maybe they thought it sounded too much like Iorek would confuse people? XD

I just saw the movie tonight. I enjoyed it muchly and thought it was pretty amazing.

The end of the Iorek/Ragnar bear fight left the entire audience speechless for about 1.5 seconds, then everyone broke out clapping.

Totally the same in my theatre! For a second there wasn't a single sound, then this one dude said "Wow" somewhere behind me and everyone gave a quick cheer/clapped. It was awesome.

Tomorrow is my last day of undergrad classes ever (hopefully). Then 4 finals. Then freedom forever! (until I have to go to work for the rest of my life... and then there's grad school)
