I'm home finally from the funeral, what an exhausting affair. Visitation in the early afternoon for two hours, visitation in the evening for three hours in which we great/grandchildren had to sit in the very front, it was entirely on Portuguese, the prayers were long and none of us were able to understand them to the point we were standing after everyone because we had to keep looking back to make sure we were doing what everyone else was doing. Then another visitation today, at 8:30am, then church where again same thing as the evening vistation, then the cemetery, then to spend time with family. Just.. thank god it's done.

Pageant. Over.

Thank the gods.

We finally convinced Comcast, who have been denying that anything is wrong with our connection, to actually come out and look at our problems this week. They didn't start until earlier this year when Comcast did some work with wires down the street, and it's been super annoying to deal with. Hopefully they actually fix whatever the hell they did to make it start being so finnicky.

And if they do...that means getting into too much action in Lusternia won't drop my connection...

Then I get to have another thing to be stressed out about: Lusternian combat! tongue.gif

My friend that moved to Alabama said that Comcast makes her pay additional money a month so they fix their mistakes for free.

Boo comcast, yay FIOS. ohyeah.gif

Oh hey, that sounds like Cox down in Vegas. They tweaked the wires one day that connected our house to the interwebs and ended up knocking it out for around 3-4 days. They also made changes to it later in the year that killed our connection for about a week or so! They suck.

They were coming towards us with FIOS, then made a sharp turn to the side and completely avoided the neighborhood. crying.gif Believe me, the moment they put it in...bye bye terrible Comcast.

So I just walked for a little over 2 miles barefooted. I read an article this morning somewhere about how barefoot running is apparently the way to go, and no one has done real peer-reviewed research on if running shoes actually prevent injuries. I was also looking at Nike's answer to this with the Nike Free (even though I prefer Aesics and Mizuno). The pads of my feet are killing me as the asphalt was mad hot, but I -fee-l good about it.

Anyone have experience in barefoot running (say on a track or on asphalt, maximum 5 miles per go?) I would love to hear what people think. Feel free to spawn a running thread, bu I thought this made more sense as a rave for barefoot walking!
Razenth2010-08-15 20:43:07
I ran a quarter of a mile to and from a food place near my dorm once barefoot through heavy rain in nothing but a T-shirt and shorts over concrete and asphalt. Does that count?
Thendis2010-08-15 21:07:19
Running barefoot too frequently is supposed to be bad for your feet. Lack of support or something, but I am usually bothered by the lack cushioning. Something short is fine, but the constant pounding against pavement hurts my heel and increases... chances of tearing/pulling something?

Not that I have exercised in years.
Yiila2010-08-15 21:52:42
I have heard both, that it is both good and bad for support... so torn!

@Razenth: sounds like it counts to me, needs pics though =/

Barefoot parkour, for the win.
Ytran2010-08-15 22:27:56
Running barefoot sounds like a good way to get glass/rocks/metal embedded in one's foot, if nothing else.
Yiila2010-08-15 22:29:53
Barefoot parkour sounds so amazingly fun, and sexy, it huts.
Unknown2010-08-15 22:43:36
Rave for seeing someone new come in with such enthusiasm for the game and their guild.

Yeah, you. So refreshing.
Yiila2010-08-15 22:50:09
Me? Or "You" as a collective noun for all people reading the thread?
