Let us know too!
They chose to do what I did.
They were not happy.

Just as I was starting to miss Corsica, and as the memories of my holiday faded in the post-holiday work avalanche, a French market appeared in the town where I work! I bought 7 different types of cheese, Saint Agur, Morbier, Brie de Meux, a cave aged white rind cheese, a similar one to morbier but no blue streak, a soft cheese with peppers and a hard cheese! Also got some wild boar sausages, venison sausages and wine.
Plus I bought a new 24" iiyama wide screen monitor for my pc, which is mega awesome!
aaand my degree is almost at an end. (I hope!) Just the final project to finish and submit and one more exam on 11th October. (Although I should, at this point, add a post to the real world rants about the amount of work I have to do to get the project done and revise for the exam!)
Looking forward to being able to learn stuff for fun once my degree is at an end!

They weren't informed what they would be doing. Just given the choice.

Today, I tried elderflower liqueur. It is the absolute most delicious alcohol I have ever tasted, hands down. Even on the rocks.

This sounds awesome. In the meantime, I'll tide myself over with kriek lambic.

Elderflower is awesome.

The fruits of my labors the last few weekends. It's not done: still have to put the trim T-molding on it and do paint touchup, and replace the feet. Lots of software still to be done as well. And I need to find an artist who'll do me side decals at a reasonable price. But it's working!

That, my dear sir, is beautiful.

Wait until the yellow T-molding is on all those exposed whitish edges, and I've used some touch-up paint on all the other blemishes. Then it's going to be amazing.
It's also going into my newly-arranged game room. I have an original, good condition, fully restored Asteroids Deluxe, an air hockey table, a recumbent bike and TV, and a dartboard, and will have a wall rack for the laser tag guns. Will also set up some speakers with an MP3 player with various "mood" playlists, including an all-80s one for playing on the arcade games.
Boy, am I exhausted after all the construction and furniture-moving, but it's the good kind of exhausted.

I MAME. No matter what, when my friends come over, we always end up playing Street Fighter on it.
Lendren2010-09-07 01:39:30
I did have the wild idea, what if I hooked that controller board up to zMUD? I could use one joystick for movement, one for ranged attacks or sprinting, the spinner to select targets, and all those wonderful buttons for all my different attacks. I wonder if, being a child of the 80s, I'd be better at combat if I did it standing up at a panel like that?

Tempest on the screen, yeah?

Hrm...
A list on the side of the screen, use a controller to move up and down it to select targets.
Movement based joystick with a shift button where you can quickly thumb or pinky it to switch to sprint or ranged attack.
Buttons for various attacks as you said.
Score meter, with a high score listing for each combat (Based on kills/afflictions).
Cup holder.
And in homage to Gauntlet, insert quarter to SIP HEALING.
BLUE DRUID NEEDS FOOD BADLY.
Donate money used to heal to charity, "Lendren's Blood for Child's Play" or sommat.
Or, buy beer with it.
Or, buy your significant other a present, to help them understand that you need your alone time with the video game more often.
Lendren2010-09-07 22:08:37
My significant other is probably going to be on the game more than I will!
Yep. Of all the classic, much-loved 80s arcade games where having the right controller makes all the difference in the world, Tempest is the one where the right controller makes the most difference. That purple spinner on there is a dream. Spins so smooth.
Full disclosure: I didn't make the control board, I bought it. I built everything else.
Edit: Well, obviously, I didn't build the HD monitor out of wattle and daub, you know what I meant.

Got my student loan all sorted, not getting as much funding but it's all settled. So soon until I fly.
