I just got my acceptance letter into the biotechnology program I've had my fingers crossed for. So, -so- happy, starting school this January!

Got my student loan all sorted, not getting as much funding but it's all settled. So soon until I fly.
You coming up north?
Shiri2010-09-09 02:43:42
Happy Cirno day!

I plan on travelling around the UK if time, and money, permits!
Also, I'm home for the next two, very glorious days. Home. Finally, this week is evil. But saturday is right around the corner.

Guess who's drunk!
"Wallace?"
"You guess right."

My laptop will arrive in ~9 hours!

TGIM
Because of weird scheduling, today is Monday classes, not Friday. Which means that I was done at 10:25 am this morning. It's a beautiful day outside, and I plan on enjoying it.

Learning to read neumatic notation so I can sing plainchant, whee!
Yes, I understand this would be much more useful if I was Catholic and/or in a choir. Oh well.

I used to be able to stumble my way through neumatic notation. Chanting isn't just for Catholicism! But I did study music in Undergrad, and we learn all sorts of things no one else cares about .
I'm curious, since you're not Catholic or in a choir, why are you learning neumatic notation?

There are days when I simply research a project out of boredom, or out of amusement.
All that glitters is not gold, not all that exists needs reason. Only that it exists must you question the form, and not the formation. To question the formation is to get into banned topics.

Real Life Elostian (Or would that be Raezon)?

It's also really easy to learn. Scale starts at the squiggle, stacked notes sung sequentially from the bottom up, lines are kinda like rests, everything else is rare enough that you can lean over and ask the person next to you what it means. Congratulations! You can now lead vespers.

All the construction stuff finally done, trim, molding, the works. Ready to be moved into the game room. Still a bunch of software fiddling to do, though.

Because I heard a choir of monks singing Dies Irae and decided to sing along. It's a lot easier to do if you have the notation in front of you. Grabbed a copy from the internet, then said "Huh, I should probably learn to read this." So I did. Now I'm learning how to typeset it in Lilypond, which is a total pain because instead of having a melody variable that just has "a4 b8 b b c2" or something, it's more like "\\ \\".
Lilypond definitely deserves a rave all by itself, too. Screw paying hundreds of dollars for music engraving software when I can do pretty much the same thing AND scratch my itch to program at the same time.
Xavius2010-09-11 20:30:33
Oh, college football season, how I missed you.

You rock.
EDIT: Oops, forgot my rave. My rave is also for the beginning of college football, because that means that the beginning of hockey preseason is less than two weeks away .
