Finished Final Fantasy XIII last night. It was a good game. The ending left me a bit depressed. :\\

Even the joy of surviving the dentist does not surpass how much this makes my day.

FFXIII's ending was lukewarm at best. I didn't find it sad at all, just sort of...unsatisfying.

If you want something really sad, but in a good way, play FFX.

FFX was crap. It was, as a story, adequate. But I'd come to expect a bit more from Final Fantasy than the equivalent of a side-scroller, which is decidedly what I felt like I was playing (the same occurred with FFXIII)

FFIX was the last 'good' game from the Final Fantasy series.

Enjoy the cushy cocktail parties with promised progress that only comes ever so slowly. :|

You can usually count on Final Fantasy for a bittersweet ending. I really liked most of XIII, but I think FFX is still the only one that really nailed every aspect. Characters, story, battle mechanics (summons especially), weapon customization, music... Just love it.

Oh, and rave for FFIX, which I just got my hands on. I'm only a few hours in but it gets plenty of points for cuteness so far.

X was either the best in the series or right behind 7 and 6. IX was mediocre at best.

XIII would have been good because the tactical gameplay was pretty solid despite taking so damn long to warm up, but the story and characters were awful so it loses major points there.

The only characters I didn't like in XIII were Hope and Snow. Snow wasn't all that bad, but Hope.....gods I would not have been one bit sad if he had been killed.

I really wish though you could use the other party members summons. I like Lightning and she was my primary leader, but I wanted to use Bahamut sometimes

Fang had a pretty sexy voice, I don't know if that counts as being a good character though.
