Just to make my day a bit happier and away from god awful pain oh my god why do my teeth hate me, I received a bursary from my university back home today. Which will cover the costs of my final term here, which I was really worried about paying.

I get to stay smile.gif

Rediscovered a childhood favorite of mine, Eureeka's Castle. Spent all day snowed in and drowning in nostalgia.

My sister wouldn't give Avatar a chance, but Netflix introduced us to Mushi-Shi, which is weird and wonderful like a Miyazaki film. Also features Travis Willingham as an added bonus. smile.gif

I'm learning to draw. It's fun, but definitely not easy.

That is a really good series, and I'd like to recommend it to more people, but I worry that they'll just get bored with the tone and pace of it. It's the polar opposite of something like FMA (since you listed Mustang) in terms of action, and I don't think that many people are able to appreciate both halves of the spectrum sad.gif

Also, I watch everything subbed, but Yuto Nakano is almost nowhere else to be found, which is a shame since he plays Ginko so well.

Score! After my last failure with cooking (overdone pasta ftw) I have been demoted to blueberry muffins. And I believe they are delicious. Hooray for microwave cooks improving!

I'm giving you both high fives. Cooking and baking for the win!

Yeah, I'm pretty surprised my sister got into it, given that Blood+ was her last obsession. biggrin.gif Anyway, I love Netflix.

Woot, unexpected additional compensation for Afghanistan makes it that I can have a nice vacation in the US this year.

As for eBooks I prefer the kindle, the new nook now uses an LCD screen and I don't think colour and touch screen features are worth the strain on my eyes. The only books I have in colour are picture books and I prefer those in paper format because it still looks better than on any screen so really to me colour is a useless function. Also of course Amazon has far better international support, free 3G in all countries that support it (for me, you Americans have to pay outside the USA)

I'm a total hippie, so I'm gonna have to go with electronic books over real books. happy.gif

EDIT: No, real books makes electronic books sound lesser! They're both just as real! I'm going to start my own subtle wording war on the other side.

I prefer electronic books over dead tree books.

A hippie would go the the library or buy used books. Unless you read more then 40 new books a year paperback is more environmental friendly then eBook readers.
Llesvelt2011-01-13 17:03:47
This reminds me that books are post-scarcity.

Yay.

Eh the new nook isn't a "nook", it's a "nook color"...totally different device intended for different purposes, not as an upgrade.

I can't drive and the closest library isn't within walking distance (unless you count ~2 hours as walking distance >.> )

Incidentally, the ending got a bit rushed, but I think the single nearest thing to it in atmosphere would be Ghost Hound. (Same writer as Ghost in the Shell, but pretty different in various ways.)

EDIT: And I guess maaaybe if you stretch really far Seirei no Moribito, but that's more like straight up low fantasy complete with structure.

Even the standard nook has an LCD (below the eink to browse, it is the feature that reduced your battery life to 10 days instead of a month) and it causes a reflective glare. (I tried reading my friend's nook while on mission and that glare really bothered me)

Oh I fully support the use of ebooks biggrin.gif. But lets face it, being the computer junkies we are we'll never fit in the environmental extremist group wink.gif

My Kindle arrived. It's so much thinner then I expected. And the screen- it looks as if the words were just built right into the thing. So classy.

Oh man. The latest MSPA update, oh mannn.

So, come in to work today and it was the same old same old stuff. Someone lost their purse and no other dispatchers could get ahold of the owner due to a disconnected number, so I figured I'd do it later. My sgt. walks in and picks up the id out of it and says "Delayne so-and-so". My attention piques, because the only two people with that name are my cousin who lives in new york, and the cute girl at subway that I reaaally want to get to know. I ask to see the picture, and it's hers! So he calls the subway and gets her number and whatnot, she comes down to the station and sees me and gets this huge smile. She walks in gets her purse and gives me a big hug for finding her purse saying I made her night. Before she left I gave her my number saying "Hey if you feel like it shoot me a text sometime" (I still dont know if I came across as creepy). She smiled and walked off. The sgt. then congratulates me for "good detective work" which made me feel really good. I'm really excited about this, but I pray to god she doesn't have a boyfriend. I'm still waiting for a text back (even though I have her number from the information the sgt gathered, though I refuse to call her on the basis that it'd be creepy as hell). If she texts me back then after a little while Ill ask her out on a date. (I've never asked someone out on an official date in person before ._.)

Woke up at 6, went shopping, got all the food I need for awhile, unpacked everything, got fiance to change litterboxes, vacuumed, cleaned. All before noon. Meeeeer. Tired now, but it's done. Well, until I know if sissy is coming over for dinner.
