Internet's back after a day and a half. And given how much happened around here with electrical storms and massive flooding, we got off easy just to have lost Internet and a few appliances.

The worst was the transmitter for our underground wire dog fence. I spent the whole last weekend and much of the past week installing it, making myself sore and covered by (literally) hundreds of bug-bites in the process; we got one day of training the dog in, and then the storm hit and the system failed. The good news (since this is still the Raves thread!) is that it seems that the wire itself (and thus the investment of countless hours of back-breaking labor installing it) is still fine, it was just the system "brain" that failed.

Both continue to amaze me with what the client is capable of and their willingness to listen to people and implement changes.

I feel like I just dodged a bullet. A bullet worth 1/4 of my final grade.

I just thought of something.

Harry Dresden gets shot at the end of Changes. When a knight dies, his power is rebounded back into the Queens. Dresden's Knighthood isn't gonna stick mebbe? I hope his deadness doesn't stick.

Of course his deadness won't stick, but I kinda want to see him as Winter Knight, but maybe they'll use this as a way to get him out of it.

Word of God is that being dead isn't enough to get him out of it. And, y'know, his agreement was that as long as he lived he would serve her. True, he's dead NOW, but when he comes back....

I suppose we'll have to wait and see. I do find it curious that he died from a single bullet though. Summer Knight seemed to make it seem like Knights were just...tougher...

That's the point of Ghost Story - someone cheated, so he gets to stick around as a ghost. Have you read the sample chapters?

The person who shot him was prepared and most likely knew what to hit him with, and they're tougher, but not immortal. Also remember he just had a regular shirt on.

An excellent series of (American) urban fantasy novels about a wizard in Chicago.

I want to read these now but I fear I've given myself far too many spoilers. sad.gif

Then again, it's late enough at night that I'll wake up not remembering the details of them. laugh.gif

They only spoiled the very latest book really, and there's like 12 plus short stories. Do recommend.

Mainly the end of the last book and part of the middle of it. But yes, the series is highly recommended along with his Codex Alera series.
