So far so good on fixing my weird internet connection problem. Seems I won't have to keep booting under safe mode to do anything on the internet. Now just have to get Skype working again, and fix my speakers.
I'd forgotten how long Sins of a Solar Empire games tend to get. Felt good getting a chance to play it after so long, and I still didn't get to finish the match, I'd only just defeated the fourth AI, 1 down, 2 to go.

Just saw the Seattle Symphony Orchestra perform video game music from a lot of cool games. It was pretty fantastic. I even think the guy in front of my cried during Chrono Trigger.
Did they play any Star Fox music? The one I saw totally missed that opportunity, but was otherwise preeeetty excellent.

At long last, DSL is finally coming to my neighborhood.
And it's in. Getting about 2-3x the actual throughput of my friends with cable modems, and about 5-6x the speed of the old T1 (at about 1/6th the price).

No, no Star Fox. No final fantasy either, which I was disappointed about. It was pretty cool otherwise though. They had the original singer from Dragon Age II do a guest performance during the DA2 medley, which was neat.

Have speakers, have second monitor, have mouse. Can watch movies/shows, can catch up to Dr. Who, can play my games now, can listen to my entire itunes library without having my ipod, which is unfortunately dead and my charging cord is busted. Overall good stuff though.

On the topic of games, Splinter Cell: Conviction is a huge leap over the previous Splinter Cell games. Now if only i didn't have stupid Intel HD graphics.......

My mom finally caved on letting me register to take the art class I wanted to next semester. Hooray!
...the only problem is that the class periods are 3 and a half hours long. Urgh. Oh well. I will try not to complain too much. Try being the keyword. My drawing class a few semesters ago was an hour and forty five minutes, and that didn't seem toooo terrible, so maybe I'll be able to power through the cold cold classes in the cold cold art building. Oops, complaining again.
I really am excited about it, I just tend to complain a lot.

I took exactly one art class in college. Intro to 3D art (not CGI or anything - just the prerequisite to the pottery class I wanted to take later on). It was worth three credits, classes were three and a half hours long two times a week, and required substantial out-of-class work if you're a perfectionist without much god-given talent in visual art. My projects consistently turned out better than most of the actual art students', but since I didn't keep my "art journal" to the instructor's exact specifications, I ended up with the second lowest grade of my college career.
And as it turns out, the pottery class I wanted to take later on was for art students only.
Sorry to ruin your rave!! I like complaining too. I guess the moral is if you actually are interested in art, you won't mind the long hours and unpleasant conditions.

Indeed! I was watching the stream, and I must admit, Diaz continues to be a fascinatingly, uh, interesting character. His ranting about democratic governments (although I know he was really ranting about Democrat governors) was at least giggle-worthy (yes, Sior coded me to be able to giggle).

I had a fraternity brother who was an art major. We never saw him because all of his classes were 3 hours long and then he spent all his time finishing his art projects and would be randomly required to babysit kilns and other weird things at 3am. He also had permanently blackened skin on his hands from all the iron he handled in his artwork. I don't know that it's worth all that. The only time I ever spent in the art building was doing exposure assessments in the metalworking lab and I did not enjoy the environment.

If you have a passion for something, it doesn't matter how hard it is - your practice will always be primarily for enjoyment. That's why I'm confident I'll succeed commercially as a writer someday; I'll keep typing until my fingertips fall off. (And it won't take long, since I play guitar and bass too. So many calluses...)

Well, there's my problem. I never really find anything that I enjoy practicing or doing, so I don't really do anything. Also, I don't really think I get better with practice. Like... at all.
