I am indefinitely unemployed, so rarely obtaining my own funds. Most of my possessions and food and whatevers are shared with the rest of my family in the house, so there is nothing I can really lay claim on, apart from the things no one else would want.

However, this iced tea is Mine.

I bought the tea leaves that made it. I bought the sugar that went into it, too. I even paid for the pitcher that holds it, though it was long ago, and the kettle that boiled the water belongs to me as well.

No one can drink this tea, because it is Mine. And realizing that I can say "don't drink my damn tea" and have it actually mean something is far more important to me than it should be a special thing.

No. I understand. When I was living with my roommates and we were all poor, there were a lot of things that were shared. But I bought 95% of the groceries, so when I laid stake on something, it had better bloody be there unless I decided to finish it.

Fire the TORPEDOES!

(It's an EVE thing).

Reminds me of when I was in dorms, where the only safe place for things was in your room as there was about fourteen of us sharing a tiny waist height fridge. Nothing was sacred, if you wanted milk you knew was safe you just had to buy it in small portions and keep it in your room :P

Dorms suck. I couldn't keep mountain dew in the fridge long enough for it to get cold.

My roommates and I have a good setup though in our house. We all buy our own groceries and nobody messes with each other's stuff. We do share dishes and stuff(I feel like a mooch though because I didn't bring any cookware). Of course......I am the only one in the house that is armed....maybe that's why my stuff doesn't go missing, lol.

We get along great though, and we're all pretty honest folk.

Gotta love it when you luck out in terms of cohabitants.

The boys I live with and I have all reached an understanding of what is sacred and what is not: margarine and condiments are fair game for anyone, the rest... well, if it goes missing, someone dies in their sleep. The female I live with, however, has not learned this yet, and thus shall die in her sleep soon.

Too bad we like the female too much to do away with her.

At work, we have a fridge. The rule is "Mark your stuff." Simply because if the Major or Colonel eats it, you can't exactly yell at him like you can the lower ranked enlisted, and it's not even proper to discuss it with them, that they did, in fact, just eat your yogurt. The correct solution is to get more yogurt, not waste their time with it. Because telling someone who's been in the Marine Corps just about as long as you've been alive probably earned a free yogurt, somewhere, somehow, in my opinion. (Also, first rule of Financial Management is: Mark everything. If you fail, it's on your own head.)

On the other hand, the CWO4's wife keeps making cookies. And she's very, very good at making cookies.

And you also lock your barracks door. Because drunk assholes will wander in when you sleep on the weekend, grab a slice of pizza and walk right out the door. I'm lucky, my roommate has a reputation to reacting poorly to strangers in the room without knowing they were invited.

:dazed:

Being done my exams is nice, I'm mostly packed, I have a few things to clean up in my room, I have one last shift of work and my bus leaves tomorrow morning.

On the conversation of dorms, I had that problem when I lived in my uni's townhouse residences, my stuff would go missing all the time. I finally lost my temper a month before I moved out and took out all my kitchen stuff. Wasn't too much left when the other girl who go annoyed at stuff going missing took her stuff too. Was hilarious!

Now though, we live in a converted hotel, I have my own large room, came with a bar fridge and I have a locker downstairs in the public kitchen. My food is safe for once!

I want it, but I don't want it.

It's awesome. It's definitely going to draw Apple's attention. For $199, you get a tablet that does apps, music, docs, books, video, and web browsing. The only thing I don't really like is that there is no expandable memory. You get 5 GB internal storage space, and that's it, unless you use the Amazon Cloud(which means you need to be in range of WiFi). But other than that....I can't complain. Feels solid an durable, works fast and smooth. Built in speakers are good. I can stream netflix on it. It is smaller than an iPad. It's only 7 inches vs. 10. Some people will like that, some people won't.

Yeah, it's just that I'm not a big tablet fan. I view them as the poptart of computers.

Yeah, after a while, mine will probably become a glorified iPod. I've been wanting something to plug into my car stereo so I can listen to music while driving without having to mess with CD's. Now I have that. Right now I've got it hooked up to 2 really big speakers that I have and it's set on Pandora. Rocking out to classic rock. :D

I like sticking my toe into this hole in a piece of Styrofoam. It's squeaky and is scraping against my nail.
Lawliet2011-12-28 15:55:55
It worries me that you think that's worth RAVING about.
Arsalil2011-12-28 16:11:35
Rave for having a 4 day work week this week and next, and a 3 day weekend 2 weekends in a row! Woot! :D

One more day on this damnable ten day stretch at work and then a four day weekend over new years, woo!
