On Friday, I am going to be a moderator at the debate between the GOP contenders for Governor of Utah. I'm kind of excited to meet them all. The incumbent backed out of course, but I've already met him and spoken with him, so it's not a total loss. One of the candidates ran for the House in 2010, and he's considered the favorite for Governor, and I'll be driving him around town Friday evening to various events he's attending, since he doesn't know his way around our city very well.

Out of nowhere, I've also found the urge to learn Spanish. I've always been vehemently opposed to it, for ideological reasons, but I'm accepting the reality that here in the southwest, Spanish is maybe 10 years away from becoming the dominant language. They also say it's easier to learn a 3rd language than a 2nd, and since I already speak 2, now's a good time.

Not only did I get hired on the spot for that job a couple days ago, I'll be able to get over 40 hours a week regularly if I want it. Money!!!

Pretty sure it's a whole new character, since each class is getting a new one.

I never drank, at all, even through college, just wasn't my thing. Though there were a few parties I was at that people were asking me how drunk I was, I guess I was kind of a goofy oddball?

Anyway like a month, friend was bugging me to a least try some, might help be more sociable with people? So I tried some the next time I was out at a friend's party and oh god was that stuff he had was foul tasting. I think it was Coors? For like a week everybody I mentioned this to was like "oh yeah, you'll get used to the bad taste eventually." But man, I'm not that eager to get drunk that I'm gonna stomach that vile stuff. I understand going for the cheap stuff since money is tight for everybody these days, but when it comes to food/drink I was always willing to pay thay extra buck for stuff that didn't taste horrible.

But the actual rave. My good bro and childhood friend who just got back into town brought me a variety six pack of some nice beers as well as gave me some general advice drinking advice, and suggestions on some decent stuff that isn't too expensive.

A good tip if you want to save money and not hate what you're drinking, drink the nice stuff first THEN switch to whatever foul concoction your friends are drinking, you really wont mind it once you're slightly toasted.

But do be careful, as when you're more than a little drink you also wont mind drinking extremely stupid things, like a full mug or two of uncut rum...

Another good tip if you're out at a bar, order your water in a martini glass, or a tumbler, or anything but a water glass so that it looks like a real drink. I don't do this, but I've seen people that have and its a smart way of doing it.

I've HEARD the hole "Drink water whilst drinking booze" thing but I've never seen anyone actually do it...

Had a good long day of mingling with politicians. The debate went very well, I enjoyed moderating it, and all the comments were constructive.

I then spent the afternoon with Morgan Philpot, one of the candidates for Governor, driving him and his wife to their appointments. We also went and got wings, which was fun.

Then I attended a BBQ at the house of a candidate for Congress, followed by a town-hall meeting with a candidate for Senate, with more food.

The beauty of the Utah politcal system, no matter which party you are in, is that those willing to be involved can get access to the candidates on a more personal basis.

Sweet, my teacher had to leave not an hour into my class, and told us we could leave because she would be gone the rest of the day. I'm totally ok with this.

Watching some of Wrath of the Titans on my break. This movie has only the barest grounding in Greek mythology as well barely having a plot, but god damn are those some bitching special effects and awesome looking fights.

Just schooled a guy in public, lol. Last night, and again this morning, a member of our community called me out in a public channel and insulted my integrity. Had a good debate with him and made him look like a complete jackass. Nice little boost to my crappy week(got heaps of stress from school).

My managers, probably due to pressure from my soon-to-be new managers, told me today that this will be my last week after all and I won't have to stay for a third week. WooHoo!!!!! :D
