No, you can't has my house! Took us about ten years to get this built. Custom house on six acres of rural mixed woods in Vermont.

(Click the picture for a slideshow of more pictures)

The big disadvantage: no broadband, just agonizingly laggy, crappy-bandwidth-quota, you-can-never-hunt-or-fight-in-IRE, satellite Internet. But WiFi will reach me faster than the forest will reach you! I hope.

I'll trade you city buildings, pollution, and censor.gif neighbors for your pretty house? wub.gif

Wow! Nice place, Lendren! smile.gif

I love how your kitchen and living room look like one big ol room like that.
Diamondais2008-09-22 18:16:46
Very nice home Lendren.
Lendren2008-09-22 18:18:56
See, I edited it down to just the slideshow since it seemed too big and then it got quoted before I could update it!

I designed it to look and feel like a log home on the inside (our previous tries to build a log home didn't work out; not financially possible here unless you either can do most of the work or put in a gob of up-front money). The great room is about 32' square, except for the pantry cut out of one corner. Three bedrooms, two full baths (one with a 4x6 whirlpool tub), full basement, two-car garage with workshop and 4-cord woodshed, radiant heating on laminate wood floor everywhere, woodstove, and the porch is fantastic to stand on in a thunderstorm. All it needs is a fiberoptic cable plugged into the east-coast Internet hub to make it nirvana.

Daaaang Lendren! Those are badass tomato plants! Look at the size of em!

The instructions for the container plants says to put in fertilizer pellets.

Still! My mom used fertilizers on her gardens and I don't remember her tomato plants being quite that huge. Those're nice plants.

Lendren has my dream house. I'm so envious. sad.gif

They got a lot bigger than that, that's just when we stopped taking pictures!

Your fertilizer pellets had plutonium in them, didn't they? laugh.gif
Lendren2008-09-22 20:40:52
No wonder those tomatoes tasted so good, and I've been hovering a few inches above the ground lately...

In the Vermont news tomorrow:

"Man Eaten by 'Killer Tomato' Plant"
Lendren2008-09-22 20:48:55
The frost late last week thoroughly killed the plant. All the tomatoes are in, most of them are salsa in the basement!

I do have an Ivy plant that I've had for going on five years. But it's a freak of nature. I forget to water it for weeks at a time. I keep it in the bathroom where there's only a teeny window. Somehow it still lives. I think it's a mutant of some sort. laugh.gif

Is it a philodendron? Mom has one of those that she has thus far been unable to kill. She has plant trouble too laugh.gif
Shaddus2008-09-22 21:32:23
I've head of something called beefsteak tomatoes, perhaps those are it?

It looks like this, but mine has gone all wild and long and crazy. laugh.gif

Acrune2008-09-22 21:41:31
Heh, I'm almost certain that is indeed a philodendron. Amusing tongue.gif

We scored new couches for our living room.

I heard the roommates making a lot of noise, so I walked out to check it out and there was new couches.

They took them from the Fitness Centre. laugh.gif Said it was hurting their backs, so the Fitness Director said to take them.

New couches. wub.gif The old ones were Nasty.
