Snow is an evil four letter word that should be censored.
Never run a steam iron over a spider when you are trying to touch up a crease on a white cotton shirt.

Snow is a beautiful thing, until after the first big snowfall. then it is an evil four letter word that should be censored.
And I thought I was mean to spiders, god knows I chuck enough shoes at them to be considered so!

Snow is very pretty, and fun to play in, but when the playing is over, it doesn't do the polite thing and go away. Rude snow. Rude.
That said, snow is better than ice. Ice is the worst.

Even ice can be fun! Ever run across a busy intersection or the main street of your city while it's icy? It's all fun and games till you get hit by a car! Though, yesterday's close call means I wont play any time soon.

Snow is only pretty when and right after it falls. The next day, it is the ugliest pile of unwanted dirt and cold. I wish snow stayed pristine until it melted away.
And ice is better because I actually get off school for ice!

Everywhere I've ever lived snow and ice both shut down cities. Heck, I've had bosses send everyone home and close down shop cause it was sleeting real bad and there was a chance it'd ice up later. Gotta love the South.

Actually, enjoy it all you can. The further north you move and the more snow they expect through out the year the more it takes for them to close down the institution or workplace.

I've gotten off of real work for snow/ice before.
The south is great. It doesn't take much here.

Last February I went from Vermont to North Carolina for a surgery. The whole trip I was in shorts while everyone else had overcoats on. The night of the surgery, it snowed, about a quarter inch. I looked out the window around 4am and saw there was snow on some grass and a few signs, but none on streets or anything, it was completely melted already. By sunrise, even the snow on the grass was melted. I laughed and said to myself, "I could be really mean-spirited and uncharitable and make a joke about how they'll shut everything down for that, but I won't be so mean and absurd."
They shut everything down anyway.

I wish. I live in Ft. Worth, Texas. This place sees one snow flake and wal-mart closes down for the day. My job never closes, we don't get snow days.
Kharaen2008-10-29 16:47:25
It snowed here too! Still on the ground, goes half-way up Toph's legs
I threw her in a snowbank >> She was timid with the snow at first (first time seeing it) but then jumped around and ran in it after I threw her into the snowbank.
Also - oreo cake and cantanese choa mein. Yum!

Oh, yeah! In the South, if the weather man says there's a smidgen of a chance there will be even five snowflakes falling sometime in the next couple of days, schools start plastering up closing announcements and there's a mad rush to the grocery store. If snow actually falls? Well, just hope you don't have to go anywhere or do anything any time soon.
We're all big whiney babies when it comes to ice and snow. But then, we make fun of you all when you whine about how hot it is in summer, so I guess we're even.

Why does it take over three feet of snow to shut things down, and even then, not like?

Oooh! Thanks! I couldn't figure out what she meant.
Well, that's cause they're used to the cold and snow up there. So, it takes more to shock em. Where as we down in the toasty, humid south freak out when we see snow and ice. And start thinking of like the Donner Party and stuff, even though no one ever had to eat anybody cause there was an inch of snow in their driveway.
But then, when summer comes along and it's 109 in the shade and 80% humidity, we just sip our ice tea and laugh when you Northerners complain about the 90 degree summer.
