Yes. That is why I play lots of free servers like Uogamers: Hybrid and Angel Island. Brilliant stuff. That, and one of hte more populous servers for my factioneer hunting (Hasving a friend outfit you and then dragging you right up to a six times legendary hybrid is cool, icidently) and Siege.

Also, I love this country. The only nation in the world where you wonder every question time if the old men in parliment are going to hop the desk and start in on another general brawl.

I played on Angel Island for a while.

The problem is, those are the only two even close to being faithful to the original UO I remember - except that Hybrid is filled with gangsters and run by a 23 year old southern baptist (No gay weddings, fag is tossed around regularly as the insult of choice, people are banned if they interfere with him, his alts, his girlfriends char, although not many people bother.) Sorry, was that Gangstaz? Or (I wonder, would I be banned if I used the american N word, since it is used for self description of these people? Thugz 4 lyfe. There is the old roleplayer, but a lot of people just join orcs/savages/vikings/undead/order of brittania to be a part of a ganksquad. Angel island is better than that, mostly, except there isn't more than 40-70 people who play. >_<

Edit: Hybrid, on the other hand, regularly beats out OSI in terms of players. 700 is their low point for people online. 700. Peaks at 1400. Pity emulators can't use the UO:KR client. That'd be gorgeous and i'd never stop playing AI.

It psychologically prepared me for Glomdoring.

I enjoyed AI. The admin was a former player of UO who had good instincts as to what could make the game better, and although it attracted its share of lolzpkers, it served as a testimony to the fact that you can have incredibly lax PK rules and it will not turn the world into a post-apocalyptic wasteland, especially if players take it upon themselves to enforce proper community behavior.

I loved seeing the sheer initiative, there, and met some really great people. I wouldn't give up Lusternia to play there, again, but I have nothing but good things to say about my time there.

Oh, I still play there, and Lusternia. Adam Ant was also an attempted roleplayer, even though his favorite trick was just to find something people liked hunting and slaughter by surprise while claiming guardianship. The good thing about the lolzpkers is they aren't any good. Spear/cast, spear/cast, rinse, repeat, really.

Now I have the sudden urge to go hide in the graveyard until some turn up looking for newbies. I think I'll do that.
