Apparently the dvd with episodes we haven't seen yet is coming out on May 6, so hopefully it'll air soon...
Here's a trailer for the end of the season somebody taped at a con: http://youtube.com/watch?v=DSRiyR_JyqI&feature=related
Still no word on WHY there was such a long delay...

woohoo!
I bet the reason for the long delay could be the writer's strike or having to revamp the last half of the season so that it makes it worth the wait.

ughh since school was over I lost track of time. Thought it was friday when it was already Saturday and I missed the episodes. Now I'll have to watch it on my crap computer and monitor.
Apparently the next episodes won't air until July. Weird.

I'm not sure why, but for some reason Nick's decided to hold the shows until summer, before the last DVD release.
The writer's strike didn't affect most animated work since most shows weren't covered by the union. All I know is Nick kept changing the schedule every last minute so you'd see the schedule and then all of the sudden there was Spongebob or an animated movie. Avatar is a high rated show.
I heard somebody make a theory that Avatar was a popular show but didn't sell enough "little kids" toys, since it might skew towards the older kids. Maybe an executive looked at that aspect and decided to wait since once the final episode is over this season the show is over. I've seen crazier stuff--Cartoon Network having non-cartoon shows (and saying "why does a Cartoon need to be animated"), and Warner Brothers eliminating all of the Bugs Bunny reruns on just about every network because somebody looked at the poor box-office of "Looney Tunes: Back in Action" and said kids won't watch that stuff anymore.
Either that, or they are hoping for the "Vanilla Ice" effect with the DVD. (Vanilla Ice had a lot of album sales when in the middle of "Ice Ice Baby" hitting the radio they delete the single--pulling it off the shelves so you had to buy the album). With Nick not showing the episodes they can see if sales of this DVD go up.

Hasn't Avatar had a crazy schedule for the past year or two? I vaguely recall having to wait months and months for a new episode, and not because it was the season finale. ::ponder::

Just popping in to remind people this is the week they are showing all the remaining Avatar Episodes. Last night they had the first.
They are airing each night at 8PM EDT on Nick. Tomorrow is a 1 hour double-episode, and Saturday they've combined the final four into a 2 hour movie.
This personally isn't the strategy I would've used to promote the show. (Middle of the Summer???). But I'm glad the story is being told.

Didn't it start as a summer show/relatively been a summer show?
Also, it's the series finale if I read correctly!

I hope it's not. I've seen pretty far into it and it looks like they need one more book: Air.
Unknown2008-07-15 18:44:04
Meh, this is the week where I start working afternoon shifts. I guess I'll have to watch them tiny and crap looking on my computer.
vorld2008-07-16 00:29:57
I work overnight so I don't have that problem heh. I just got into Avatar I like it.

Unfortunately, there won't be as Fire is the last chapter. However they are making a new story (according to rumors and wikipedia) still based on the Avatar Universe... For me I just wish they'll stop after Aang stops Ozai. Would make the series crappy if they add in more sidestories.
Kharaen2008-07-18 17:46:49
You've got a job now Din, just save up the 80$ necessary to buy the Fire Book. I know I will I've already got Water and Earth...
